José Lux has been setting Moissanite stones for over a decade. A solitaire stud is the simplest earring we make — and one of the hardest to do without it showing. One stone. Four prongs. A threaded silver post. Nothing else. Every component either holds or it doesn’t, and there’s nothing else on the earring to distract from it.

This is sold as one earring. Most men wear a single stud. The price is for one piece. If you want two, order two.
What you’re looking at in the images: the stud standing upright showing the full post and screw-back threading, the profile from the side showing the four-prong mount height, the earring worn on a male ear, a three-quarter rear view showing the screw-back nut fully extended, a close-up of the stone face and prong tips in diffused light, the GRA certificate and packaging, and a thermal tester confirming the stone reads at diamond-range conductivity. All of it is relevant to what you’re buying.
The Center Stone — GRA Moissanite, 6mm Round Brilliant, 0.8ct
The stone is GRA-certified Moissanite — 6mm diameter, 0.8 carat equivalent weight, round brilliant cut. Color D, Clarity FL. Colorless and internally flawless. 58 facets. The certificate ships with the earring: one physical GRA Moissanite Report with a unique report number traceable to your specific stone.

Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide. It is not a diamond and we won’t tell you it is. It has more fire than diamond — stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. At 6mm, that fire is visible from across a room in direct sunlight. In indoor light it reads as a clean, bright, white stone with occasional flash. That’s the optical character of the material. It doesn’t change over time.
The image showing the thermal tester reading at the DIA range is included because customers ask. Moissanite conducts heat at a rate comparable to diamond. A standard diamond tester will read it as diamond. We include the image so you understand what the tester is measuring and why — not to suggest the stone is something it isn’t. It is Moissanite. The GRA certificate confirms that.

A 6mm 0.8ct round brilliant at this grade is a significant stone for a men’s stud. It reads large on the ear without tipping into costume. The wear image shows the actual size on an adult male earlobe — no angle tricks, no macro lens. What you see there is what it looks like.
The Four-Prong Mount
The mount uses four prongs. Four prongs is the standard for a round solitaire of this size — it gives the stone maximum light exposure, keeps the profile clean, and holds securely when set correctly. The prongs sit at the cardinal points of the stone, slightly elevated off the disc, which lifts the stone off the earlobe and lets light enter from the side. That elevation is what makes a solitaire read as bright rather than flat.

Every prong on a José Lux stud is hand-adjusted for tension before the piece ships. Our bench artisans at the Vietnam workshop check each prong individually under magnification and run a firm push test on the stone. Prong tension on a stud has to account for daily wear: the earring goes in and out twice a day, makes contact with hair and clothing, and may be worn through sleep or exercise. We set tension for that, not for a display case.
If a stone comes loose under normal daily wear — no drops, no hard impacts — José Lux re-sets it free of charge. Re-setting labor is always free. If the stone itself is lost and needs replacement, we charge at our Hong Kong import cost only, never at retail.
The Post and Screw-Back Closure
The post and screw-back system are fully 925 sterling silver. The images show every component: the threaded post rising from the disc, the butterfly-style screw-back nut with visible threading, and the full extended assembly. What you’re looking at is solid silver throughout — no plated brass, no alloy post with a silver coating.

The screw-back nut threads onto the post and locks down. It does not rely on friction. Once tightened, it does not loosen during movement, exercise, or sleep. For a stud worn daily, that threading is what keeps the earring in place.
The closure is fully removable. Unscrew the nut completely whenever you need to clean the post or the disc. The threading is machined to last. Full disassembly, full clean, reassemble — the system handles that without degrading. This is the closure we use on every stud we make.
The Metal and Plating
The disc, prongs, and post are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. Every earring receives a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The artisans doing this work have been plating silver for years. Hand application gives more even coverage at the detail points: the prong tips, the disc-to-post joint, the underside of the mount.
Rhodium is harder than silver and sits as a barrier between the metal and the air. It keeps the surface bright white and blocks tarnish. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, how often you wear it, and exposure to chemicals all affect the timeline.
Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. The earring you buy today can be re-plated in ten years and look exactly as it did on day one.
GRA Certification

Every stone ships with its own GRA Moissanite Report — one physical certificate per stone. The report confirms: stone type (Moissanite), cut (Round Brilliant), size (6mm), color grade (D — Colorless), clarity grade (FL — Internally Flawless), and carries a unique report number traceable to your specific stone.

The certificate format is standard gemological documentation. It is a physical report, not a card. The image showing the full GRA package — report booklet, certificate card, sealed stone pouch — is what ships with your earring.
Warranty and Repairs
Every prong on a José Lux stud is adjusted by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Stone loss from normal daily earring wear is extremely rare. That’s by design, not luck.
If a stone does come loose under everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:
- Moissanite center stone: Re-setting labor is always free. If the stone needs replacement, charged at our Hong Kong import cost only — never at retail.
- Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
What’s not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a surface, or showing visible prong deformation consistent with a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and tells you honestly what we see. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
Shipping
Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can’t control.
Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you’re covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earring in perfect condition or you get your money back.
Your earring ships in two layers: the inner box holds the piece securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. The GRA certificate ships inside the inner box with the earring.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set your Moissanite stone, plate your silver post, and adjust your prong tension have been doing this work for years. Every prong is set by hand. Every screw-back is assembled and tested. Every post is plated by hand.
A solitaire stud looks simple. Getting the prong tension right, the stone seated level, the screw-back threading clean — none of that happens by machine. It’s bench work, done correctly, on every piece. We’ve done it long enough to know exactly where cheaper versions of this design fail. Ours don’t, because the work is done right from the start. The earring you receive has been through more hands and more checks than its price suggests. That’s the point.
Your Earring Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box, USPS Insured

Your earring ships in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds the piece securely in position. The outer box takes the transit damage so the inner box doesn't have to. Before it goes into the box, the earring itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer — no movement, no contact, nothing shifts from our workshop to your door.
Shipping is via USPS with 100% insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — we cover it in full. If an incorrect address was entered at checkout, José Lux refunds you completely. You either receive your earring in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That is the José Lux standard.
FAQ
This is listed as one earring. Can I order two?
Yes. Add two to your cart. We list it as one piece because that’s how most men wear it — one ear. Forcing you to buy a pair when you want a single is an industry habit. We don’t do it.
What is Moissanite? Is it a diamond?
No. Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide — a different material with its own optical properties. It has more fire than diamond, meaning stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. It is not a diamond and we won’t tell you it is. It has a GRA certificate confirming exactly what it is: Moissanite, Color D, Clarity FL, Round Brilliant. That’s the stone you’re buying.
Why does the thermal tester read it as diamond in the image?
A standard diamond tester measures thermal conductivity. Moissanite conducts heat at a rate comparable to diamond, so most testers read it at the DIA range. We include that image because customers ask about it — not to suggest the stone is diamond. It isn’t. The GRA certificate that ships with the earring confirms the stone is Moissanite. The tester reading is a material property, not a claim about what the stone is.
How large does a 6mm 0.8ct stud actually look on an ear?
The wear image shows it on an adult male earlobe at actual proportions — no macro lens, no tight crop. At 6mm, the stone reads clearly and confidently without going theatrical. It’s larger than a subtle accent stud and smaller than a statement piece. Most men in their late twenties or thirties who want a single stud that reads as real choose this size range.
How does the screw-back closure work?
The post is threaded. The screw-back nut winds down the threading and locks in place — it doesn’t rely on friction like a push-back. Once tightened, it doesn’t loosen during movement, exercise, or sleep. The nut, post, and disc are all 925 sterling silver — not plated brass. Fully removable for cleaning whenever needed. This is the closure we use on every stud we make.
Can I clean it properly with the screw-back?
Yes. Unscrew the nut fully and remove it from the post. Clean the post, nut, and disc separately with a soft brush and mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Dry before reassembling. The stone and prongs can be cleaned the same way. The threading handles full disassembly without degrading. Tarnish on the silver surface, if it develops, cleans off in 30 seconds with a polishing cloth.
Why four prongs instead of six?
Four prongs is the right choice for a round solitaire of this size. It keeps the profile clean and gives the stone maximum light exposure — the gaps between prongs let light enter from the sides, which is what makes the stone read as bright rather than blocked. Six prongs work well for smaller stones where the extra security matters more than the visual openness. At 6mm with correctly set tension, four prongs hold securely. Every prong is hand-adjusted and push-tested before the earring ships.
How long does the rhodium plating last?
Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear. Many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, how often you wear it, and whether you take it off around chemicals all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at our workshop — no time limit, no conditions. Whenever it’s needed, we handle it.
What does the warranty cover?
Moissanite re-setting labor is always free. If the stone needs replacement, we charge at our Hong Kong import cost only — never retail. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. What’s not covered: stone loss from hard physical impact — visible prong deformation from a drop or strike. José Lux inspects every case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
How does shipping work?
Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — we state that honestly rather than promise a window we can’t control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.
Where is this earring made?
Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who set your prong tension and plate your post have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online. Every prong is adjusted by hand. Every screw-back is tested before shipment. Every post is plated by hand. This is José Lux’s own workshop, not a third-party factory. The origin isn’t a footnote — it’s the reason the craft is consistent.
