José Lux has been hand-finishing men's silver chains for over a decade. The Bullet Link is one of the more deliberate chain patterns we carry — elongated rectangular links with a diamond-cut face, connected by small square rings that keep the chain in line on the neck. It moves differently from a round-link chain. It has a more structural feel. Men who buy it tend to know exactly what they're looking for.

This is a plain chain. No stone, no pendant. 925 sterling silver throughout, with a rhodium plated white gold finish hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop. At 50cm (19.7 in), it sits at collarbone level on most men — clean under a crew neck, present against an open collar, and works equally well as a standalone piece or as a base chain for a pendant.

The Bullet Link — What It Is and How It Wears

Bullet Link is built around elongated links — each one a rectangular barrel shape with a diamond-cut texture across both flat faces. Those links are connected by small square connector rings. The connector rings keep each bullet link aligned so the chain lies flat on the neck without twisting or rolling. That's the functional reason for the pattern: consistent flat wear from collarbone to clasp.

The diamond-cut texture on each link face isn't a surface finish — it's cut into the silver. Diagonal lines scored into the metal create a grid of micro-facets across each link face. When light hits the chain, those facets scatter and reflect it in multiple directions. The chain reads bright and active across its full length without relying on a polish that can dull over time.

The connector rings between each link are square, not round. That's a deliberate construction choice: square rings grip the link ends with a tighter fit than round rings, reducing the micro-movement that causes links to gradually misalign on a worn chain. It's a detail that matters after a year of daily wear.

The Metal and Plating

The chain is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. Pure silver is too soft for a chain with this link structure — the barrel links need to hold their shape under the tension of daily flexing. The copper content is what keeps them rigid over time.

Every chain gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. The artisans doing this work have been plating silver for years. Hand application gives more even coverage across the diamond-cut link faces, the connector rings, and the clasp — including the detail points where machine dipping leaves thin spots.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. The finish keeps the chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest José Lux has recorded: eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. Whenever the finish needs refreshing, we handle it.

The Clasp — Hand-Finished S-Hook

The clasp on this chain is an S-hook — hand-crafted and hand-finished at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. Not sourced from a components rack. Built and adjusted for this chain specifically.

After a decade of making men's chains, we know why the S-hook works for a Bullet Link at this weight. The hook engages the terminal ring of the chain with enough tension to stay closed through daily movement. It doesn't spring open. It doesn't rattle against the link. When you want to take it off, a slight flex on the hook releases it from the ring — clean, fast, one-hand operation.

The clasp is also easy to unhook from a pendant bail when you want to swap pieces. Press in, release, done. Every hook is tested at the workshop before the chain ships. If it doesn't hold to our satisfaction, we adjust it. If it can't be adjusted, it's replaced. You don't receive a chain with a clasp we're not confident in.

Care

The rhodium plated white gold finish protects the silver surface and keeps the chain bright. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs), bleach, strong household cleaners, and perfume applied directly to the chain. These accelerate finish wear.

For daily maintenance: a soft cloth wipe after wearing is enough. The polishing cloth José Lux includes with every order handles light surface residue on the link faces in under a minute.

For a deeper clean: warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, soft brush across the link faces and connector rings, rinse thoroughly, pat dry, air dry fully before storing.

Warranty

José Lux's goal is simple: your chain should last as long as you want to wear it.

Rhodium re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. The finish fades over years of daily wear — that's expected. When it does, José Lux re-plates it at no charge.

Clasp: if the S-hook fails under normal daily wear — no impacts, no bending from force — José Lux repairs or replaces it. Contact the workshop with a description and we handle it.

Chain integrity: Bullet Link in 925 sterling silver is a structurally stable pattern. Link deformation or connector ring failure from normal daily wear is extremely rare. If it happens without impact damage, José Lux assesses and repairs it.

What's not covered: visible physical damage from a hard pull, drop, or impact. We inspect each case and communicate what we observe. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Shipping

Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can encounter customs delays — José Lux states that upfront rather than promise a window we can't control.

Every shipment is 100% insured at full order value. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. If an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You receive your chain in perfect condition or you get your money back.

Your chain ships in two layers: anti-shock inner box, outer gift box. A silver polishing cloth and a José Lux warranty card from the workshop are included with every order.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-plate your chain and hand-finish your clasp have been doing this work for years. Every clasp is adjusted at the bench. Every chain is inspected before it ships.

A Bullet Link chain looks straightforward. Getting the rhodium plating even across every diamond-cut link face, the connector rings, and the clasp body — consistent from one end of the chain to the other — isn't simple. It's bench work. José Lux has been doing this long enough to know where cheaper versions of this chain fail: plating that thins out at the link edges where the facets are sharpest, connector rings that seat unevenly and cause links to sit at an angle, clasps that hold for a few weeks before the tension drops. Ours don't have those problems. Because the work is done correctly from the start.

Your Necklace Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your necklace ships in two layers of packaging. The inner box holds the chain and pendant securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the necklace itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before it goes into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your necklace in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

What is a Bullet Link chain?

Bullet Link is a chain pattern built around elongated barrel-shaped links — each one rectangular with a diamond-cut texture across both faces. Small square connector rings join each link in sequence and keep them lying flat on the neck. The chain doesn't twist or roll. The diamond-cut texture on each link face scatters light across the full length of the chain, which is what gives it the active, textured look compared to a smooth round-link chain.

Why 50cm and is that right for me?

50cm is approximately 19.7 inches. That places the chain at collarbone level on most men — the standard wear position for a chain that reads clean under a crew neck or an open collar. It works as a standalone piece and as a base chain if you want to add a pendant later. Every customer at José Lux has been satisfied with this length. If you want to confirm before ordering, message us directly.

Why S-hook instead of lobster claw?

For a Bullet Link at this weight, an S-hook done correctly provides a more direct close than a lobster claw. The hook engages the terminal ring of the chain with tension that holds under normal daily movement. Single-hand removal is easy — flex the hook slightly and it releases. José Lux hand-crafts and adjusts each S-hook at the Vietnam workshop. It's built for this chain specifically and tested before it ships.

How does the rhodium plating work and how long does it last?

The rhodium plated white gold finish is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop — not machine-dipped. Rhodium is harder than gold and acts as a barrier between the silver and the air, keeping the chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years before the first re-plate. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit.

Is there a pendant on this chain?

No. This is a plain Bullet Link chain — no stone, no pendant. The chain is the product. If you want to add your own pendant, the S-hook clasp and terminal ring are compatible with standard pendant bails. The chain wears clean as-is or as a base for a pendant you choose separately.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.

Where is this chain made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-finish the clasp and plate the chain have been doing this work for years — longer than most men's jewelry brands have been selling online. The workshop isn't a footnote. It's where the quality comes from.
