José Lux has been hand-finishing men's silver chains for over a decade. The Cuban Link is the chain we get asked about most. Men who buy it know what a Cuban Link is supposed to look like — the link shape, the weight, how it sits on the neck. That's who this chain is built for.

This is a plain chain. No stone, no pendant. 925 sterling silver throughout, with a rhodium plated white gold finish hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop. The Cuban Link pattern is double-sided: flat-faced interlocking links with a slight diamond cut on each face. The chain catches light at every angle. At 50cm (19.7 in), it sits at collarbone level on most men — the standard wear position for a Cuban Link that reads clean under a crew neck or an open collar.
The Cuban Link — What It Is and How It Wears
Cuban Link is an interlocked flat-face chain where each link wraps around the one before it at a tight angle. When the chain lies flat on the neck, the link faces point outward and catch direct light. When the chain moves, the links shift against each other and throw the light differently. The result is a chain that reads active — it doesn't sit dead on the skin.

The links on this chain are hand-finished. Each face carries a diamond-cut texture. That's not a polish applied on top — the cut is into the link surface. It stays readable for the life of the chain.
At 50cm (19.7 in), this chain sits at the collarbone. 5mm wide — present without being oversized. That width in Cuban Link hits the right balance: visible on every neck profile, wears clean without a pendant, works as a base chain if you want to add one later.
The Metal and Plating
The chain is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. Pure silver is too soft for a chain that flexes with every movement. The copper is what keeps the links from deforming under real daily wear.

Every chain gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. The artisans doing this work have been plating silver for years. Hand application gives more even coverage across the link faces, the cut edges, and the detail points where machine dipping leaves gaps.
Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. The finish keeps the chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest José Lux has recorded: eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. Whenever the finish needs refreshing, we handle it.
The Clasp — Hand-Finished S-Hook
The clasp on this chain is an S-hook — hand-crafted and hand-finished at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. Not a lobster claw off a components rack. An S-hook built and adjusted for this chain specifically.

An S-hook done correctly is one of the most secure closures for a Cuban Link at this width. The hook engages the terminal link with enough tension to stay closed through daily movement. It doesn't spring open. It doesn't rattle. When you want to take it off, a slight flex on the hook releases it from the link — clean, fast, one-hand operation.
Every hook is tested at the workshop before the chain ships. If it doesn't hold to our satisfaction, we adjust it. If it can't be adjusted, the clasp is replaced. You don't receive a chain with a clasp we're not confident in.
Care
The rhodium plated white gold finish protects the silver surface and keeps the chain bright. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs), bleach, strong household cleaners, and perfume applied directly to the chain. These accelerate finish wear.
For daily maintenance: a soft cloth wipe after wearing is enough. The polishing cloth José Lux includes with every order handles light surface residue in under a minute.
For a deeper clean: warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, soft brush on the links, rinse thoroughly, pat dry, air dry fully before storing.
Warranty
José Lux's goal is simple: your chain should last as long as you want to wear it.
Rhodium re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. The finish fades over years of daily wear — that's expected. When it does, José Lux re-plates it at no charge.
Clasp: if the S-hook fails under normal daily wear — no impacts, no bending from force — José Lux repairs or replaces it. Contact the workshop with a description and we handle it.
Chain integrity: Cuban Link at 5mm in 925 sterling silver is a mechanically robust pattern. Link failure from normal daily wear is extremely rare. If a link fails without impact damage, José Lux assesses and repairs it.
What's not covered: visible physical damage from a hard pull, drop, or impact. We inspect each case and communicate what we observe. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
Shipping
Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can encounter customs delays — José Lux states that upfront rather than promise a window we can't control.
Every shipment is 100% insured at full order value. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. If an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You receive your chain in perfect condition or you get your money back.
Your chain ships in two layers: anti-shock inner box, outer gift box. A silver polishing cloth and a José Lux warranty card from the workshop are included with every order.

Our Workshop
Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-plate your chain and hand-finish your clasp have been doing this work for years. Every clasp is adjusted at the bench. Every chain is inspected before it ships.
A Cuban Link looks simple. Getting the rhodium plating even across the link faces and cut edges, the clasp engagement correct, and the finish consistent across the full length of the chain isn't simple. It's bench work. José Lux has been doing this long enough to know where cheaper versions of this chain fail — uneven plating that shows dull spots in the first month, clasps that loosen after weeks of wear, link finishes that vary noticeably from one end to the other. Ours don't have those problems. Because the work is done correctly from the start.
Your Necklace Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your necklace ships in two layers of packaging. The inner box holds the chain and pendant securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the necklace itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before it goes into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.
Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your necklace in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.
FAQ
What is a Cuban Link chain?
Cuban Link is a specific chain pattern where interlocking flat-faced links sit at a tight angle to each other. When worn flat against the neck, the link faces point outward and catch light directly. At 5mm wide, it reads clean and present — not understated, not oversized. Men who buy Cuban Link chains know the pattern. It's been around for decades because it works.
Why 50cm and is that right for me?
50cm is approximately 19.7 inches. That places the chain at collarbone level on most men — the standard wear position for a Cuban Link that reads clean under a crew neck or an open collar. It works as a standalone chain and as a base if you want to add a pendant later. Every customer at José Lux has been satisfied with this length. If you want to confirm before ordering, message us directly.
Why S-hook instead of lobster claw?
For a Cuban Link at this width, an S-hook done correctly is a cleaner close than a lobster claw. The hook engages the terminal link with tension that holds under normal daily movement. Single-hand removal is easy — flex the hook slightly and it releases. José Lux hand-crafts and adjusts each clasp at the Vietnam workshop. It's built for this chain specifically and tested before it ships.
How does the rhodium plating work and how long does it last?
The rhodium plated white gold finish is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop — not machine-dipped. Rhodium is harder than gold and acts as a barrier between the silver and the air, keeping the chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years before the first re-plate. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit.
Is there a pendant on this chain?
No. This is a plain Cuban Link chain — no stone, no pendant. The chain is the product. If you want to add your own pendant, the S-hook clasp and link structure are compatible with standard pendant bails. The chain wears clean as-is or as a base for a pendant you choose separately.
How does shipping work?
Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.
Where is this chain made?
Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-finish the clasp and plate the chain have been doing this work for years — longer than most men's jewelry brands have been selling online. The workshop isn't a footnote. It's where the quality comes from.
