Three stepped tiers on each shoulder — baguette CZ at center, round CZ above and below. Every stone hand-set. This is what Art Deco geometry looks like when it's built correctly.

José Lux has been setting Moissanite stones for over a decade. The Art Deco Stepped Shoulder is one of the most architecturally precise designs in the workshop. Three tiers rise on each shoulder: a row of round CZ at the top, a center row of baguette-cut CZ, and a row of round CZ at the base. Six tiers total, three per side. Every stone in every tier is individually hand-set at the Vietnam workshop before the ring ships. There is no pressed output on this design. The geometry has to be correct or the step profile breaks.

The center stone is GRA certified Moissanite, 7.2mm, round brilliant, 1.3ct equivalent, Color D, Clarity FL. The shoulder stones on all six tiers are Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, not Moissanite. The band is 925 sterling silver, hand white-gold plated at our workshop in Vietnam. José Lux will tell you exactly what is in this ring, because that is how we work.

The Center Stone

The center stone is GRA certified Color D, Clarity FL — colorless and internally flawless. 7.2mm, round brilliant cut, 58 facets, 1.3ct equivalent. Each stone comes with its own GRA certificate and a unique ID number. Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide, not a diamond — it has more fire than diamond, which means more rainbow flashes in direct light. Set at height above the stepped shoulder architecture, the Moissanite sits as the unambiguous focal point of the design. The tiers draw the eye upward and inward toward it.

The shoulder stones are Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia. They are not Moissanite. They build the three-tier stepped structure that defines the Art Deco silhouette and frame the center Moissanite above them. The center Moissanite is the certified stone. The CZ is the setting architecture.

The Art Deco Stepped Shoulder Setting

Each shoulder has three tiers, stacked in a precise step formation. The top tier is a row of round brilliant Swiss CZ — small, bright stones that catch light in every direction. The center tier is a row of baguette-cut Swiss CZ — step-cut rectangular stones that reflect light in long, clean horizontal lines. The bottom tier is again a row of round brilliant Swiss CZ, mirroring the top. The result is a sandwich of light: scattered sparkle above, clean linear reflection in the middle, scattered sparkle below.

That combination is intentional and specific to Art Deco design language. Baguette cuts reinforce the horizontal geometry of the tier structure. Round cuts add fire and depth at the edges. Together they create a shoulder that reads as wide, structured, and active in light at the same time — not flat, not overworked.

Every stone in every tier is individually hand-set at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The round CZ stones are set in channel formation. The baguette CZ stones are set in their center-tier channel. Both channels are hand-adjusted for tension and alignment before the ring leaves the bench. José Lux has seen cheaper versions of this stepped profile where the channel walls shift because the silver wasn't gauged correctly. That doesn't happen on this ring because the silver gauge and setting work are done right.

About the Metal and Plating

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for the structural rigidity a stepped shoulder design requires. A wide, multi-tier shoulder carries more stone weight than a standard solitaire band. The gauge has to be right or the step profile compresses under wear and stones work loose. José Lux has seen cheaper versions of this setting fail at the shoulder joints within a year. Ours don't, because the silver is properly gauged and the setting is done by hand at our Vietnam workshop, not pressed out by machine.

Each ring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The artisans at the José Lux workshop have been plating silver for years, and it shows in the result — the finish is more even, more durable at the details, and holds better at the baguette channel edges, the round CZ tier faces, and the prong bases where coverage matters most. Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air, which is why this finish outperforms standard white gold plating.

In practice, the rhodium plated white gold finish typically holds for around three years of regular daily wear before you notice any fading. Based on José Lux's records, the reality is often longer — many customers come back to re-plate after five years, and some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No conditions, no time limit.

Certification Included with Every Order

Every ring ships with the full GRA gemological certificate for the Moissanite center stone. The report confirms Color D, Clarity FL, Round Brilliant cut, 7.2mm, 1.3ct equivalent — and carries a unique report number traceable to your specific stone. Physical certificate, not a card. The same format used in professional gemological documentation.

Warranty and Repairs

The prong and channel settings on José Lux rings are hand-adjusted by our artisans in Vietnam. Each stone — every round CZ in both outer tiers, every baguette in the center tier, the Moissanite at center — is individually fitted and secured by hand. Not pressed in by machine. That's why stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare at José Lux.

If a stone does become loose or fall out under normal everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux will handle it:

CZ and Swiss ECZ accent stones: Re-setting or replacing these stones is always free. José Lux imports CZ and Swiss ECZ in volume directly from our suppliers, so we absorb this cost entirely. This covers every round CZ and every baguette CZ on both stepped shoulders.

Moissanite center stone: If the center stone is lost or needs replacement, José Lux charges at our import cost from our Hong Kong supplier — never at retail price. That's the lowest possible charge. The labor to re-set it is always free.

Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No conditions, no time limit.

What's not covered: stones lost due to a hard physical impact — a ring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation of the band or prongs consistent with a fall. That's accidental damage, not a manufacturing defect. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what is observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote first.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. Every stone in this ring was hand-set there by José Lux artisans — every round CZ in both outer tiers, every baguette CZ in the center tier, the Moissanite prong-set at center, every band hand-plated and hand-finished. No machine output. This is José Lux's own workshop. The artisans here specialize in silver. The Art Deco Stepped Shoulder takes more bench time than a standard solitaire — that's not a selling point, it's just what hand-setting three tiers of stones on each shoulder, in two different cut types, with precise tier alignment actually requires.

Your Ring Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your ring ships in two layers of packaging. The inner ring box holds the ring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the ring itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before it goes into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your ring in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

What are the stepped shoulder stones made of?

Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia. Not Moissanite. The center stone is the GRA-certified Moissanite. All shoulder stones across all six tiers are Swiss CZ. The center tier on each shoulder is baguette-cut CZ. The top and bottom tiers are round brilliant CZ. They're well-matched in brightness to the center Moissanite, but they are a different material with different hardness. José Lux states this clearly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying.

Why does the center tier use baguette stones and the outer tiers use round stones?

Baguette cuts are step-cut rectangular stones — they reflect light in long, clean horizontal lines. Round brilliant cuts scatter light in every direction. On this Art Deco design, the combination is deliberate: the baguette center tier reinforces the horizontal geometry of the step structure, while the round CZ tiers above and below it add sparkle and depth at the edges. The result is a shoulder that reads as structured and active at the same time — not flat, not cluttered.

What is the Art Deco stepped shoulder setting?

Each shoulder has three tiers stacked in a descending step formation. From top to bottom: one row of round brilliant CZ, one row of baguette CZ, one row of round brilliant CZ. The three tiers step down from the center Moissanite head toward the shank, getting slightly narrower as they descend. From the side profile, the stepped silhouette is clearly visible. It gives the ring a wide, architectural presence on the hand that a standard solitaire or halo design doesn't have.

Is the stepped shoulder durable with two different stone types set side by side?

Yes, if the setting is done correctly. The round CZ tiers and the baguette CZ center tier are both channel-set — the stones sit in metal channel walls that hold them by their girdles. At José Lux, both channel types are adjusted by hand before the ring ships. The silver is gauged for the load of the stepped shoulder profile. José Lux has seen cheap versions of this design where the channel walls compress over time. Ours hold because the silver gauge and the setting work are both done right.

What is a rhodium plated white gold finish, and how long does it last?

Rhodium is a platinum-group metal — harder than gold, naturally white, and longer-lasting than standard gold plating. Applied over 925 sterling silver by hand at our Vietnam workshop, it creates a bright, durable surface that holds better at the baguette channel edges, the round CZ tier faces, and the prong bases than machine-dipped plating. José Lux applies it by hand, which gives more even coverage at those detail points.

In terms of durability: the finish typically holds around three years of regular daily wear. In practice, many José Lux customers come back to re-plate after five years, and some have gone eight years before they noticed any fading. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — whenever the time comes, we take care of it.

What does the warranty cover on a design this complex?

The prong and channel settings on José Lux rings are engineered for durability and adjusted by hand — stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare, even on a design with this many individually set stones across six tiers.

If a stone does come loose or fall out with no evidence of impact damage: CZ and Swiss ECZ stones — every round CZ and every baguette CZ on both shoulders — are re-set for free. José Lux imports these in volume and absorbs the cost entirely. Moissanite center stone replacement is charged at José Lux's import cost from our Hong Kong supplier — never at retail. Re-plating is always free.

What's not covered: impact damage — a ring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation consistent with a fall. José Lux will still repair it in that case, at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking included, sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux is upfront about that rather than promising a delivery window that can't be controlled. Every shipment is 100% insured.

How do we find your ring size?

José Lux makes every ring to your size — custom fit. Use our sizing guide and 60-second measurement video to get your measurement right before ordering. If you're between sizes or unsure, message us first — it's easier to get it right upfront than to adjust later.

Where is this ring made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. Our artisans specialize in silver. The Art Deco Stepped Shoulder takes significantly more bench time than a standard solitaire — hand-setting round CZ and baguette CZ across six stepped tiers in two different channel formats, all while keeping tier alignment exact, is bench work that can't be rushed. This is José Lux's own workshop. The origin isn't a footnote — it's the reason the craft is consistent.
