The Center Stone

The center stone is GRA certified Green Moissanite — 7.2mm, round brilliant cut, 58 facets, 1.3ct equivalent. Every stone ships with a GRA certificate carrying a unique report number traceable to your specific stone. Physical certificate — not a card, not a QR code.

Green Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide with a teal-green color that sits between blue and green depending on the light. It is not a diamond. It is not an emerald. It is its own stone with its own visual character — and under directional light, the fire is more intense than diamond. On a bypass design where the shank draws the eye inward toward the center, that fire reads across the whole ring.

The GRA certificate for this stone lists Clarity D/FL — internally flawless — and Round Cut, 7.2mm, 1.3 carat. The color grade on the certificate reads White, which is the GRA baseline grade. The green is a color treatment applied to the stone. What you see in the photos is what arrives. It does not fade, because the color runs through the stone, not a surface coating.

The Bypass Split Shank and Swiss CZ Setting

The shank splits at the shoulder into two separate arms. Those two arms sweep past each other in a bypass configuration — one passing above, one below — before both converge at the center head where the Moissanite is set. From the top, you see the center stone bracketed by two angled shank arms and the CZ stones running down both sides. From the profile, the crossing is visible underneath.

Each shank arm carries three rows of Swiss CZ: one center row of square princess-cut CZ flanked by two rows of round brilliant CZ on either side. All three rows run the full length of both arms. Every stone is individually hand-set at the José Lux workshop — not cast in by machine. The artisans set each stone, adjust the prong or channel tension, and check alignment before the ring leaves the bench.

The Swiss CZ stones are well-matched in brightness to the center stone. They are a different material — cubic zirconia — with different hardness and different properties. Their job in this design is structural to the visual: they lead the eye from both shoulders inward to the center Moissanite. The green of the center stone reads against the white CZ in a way that makes the color more visible, not less.

About the Metal and Plating

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for the structural rigidity a bypass shank design requires. A crossed shank carries the stone weight differently than a straight band. The gauge has to be correct or the crossing point flexes under wear and the geometry shifts. At José Lux, the silver is properly gauged for this design — we've seen cheaper bypass rings flex and distort at the bypass joint within a year.

Each ring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at the Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — a ring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation of the bypass shank consistent with a fall.
