On top of that silver base, José Lux applies a rhodium barrier layer, then finishes the piece in 14K gold. The rhodium layer sits between the silver and the gold — it keeps the gold tone even and slows the silver underneath from migrating up through the plating over time. Applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped.

Conservative baseline for this finish is three years of regular daily wear. In practice, many José Lux customers report five years before they notice any change, and we’ve recorded eight years of daily wear before a first re-plate.
