Most of what José Lux makes is symmetrical. A solitaire sits centered on its post. A halo ring runs even around the center stone. A snowflake cluster has matching arms at every point. The heart swirl is different. The center stone sits off-center, positioned in the upper portion of the heart frame. The swirl element curves away from the stone mount and sweeps down through the heart’s interior toward the bottom point. The accent stones run along that sweep, graduating in size from largest near the center to smallest at the tip. Nothing on this earring is centered. That asymmetry is the design.

Three components make up this earring. First: an open heart wire frame in 925 sterling silver — a formed wire outline of a heart shape, hollow in the middle, not a solid disc. Second: a Swiss CZ center stone in a prong mount, positioned in the upper-left area of the heart frame. Third: a swirl arm that curves from the center stone mount diagonally across the heart interior, carrying three graduated micro CZ accent stones along its length. All three components are fabricated from the same 925 sterling silver and finished with the same rhodium plated white gold coating.
What you’re looking at in the images: the face-on shot shows the full heart silhouette with the off-center stone placement and swirl trail clearly. The second face-on shot shows the same from a slightly different angle. The side profile shows the screw-back assembly and how the open wire frame sits flush against the ear. The three lifestyle shots on the ear show exactly how this earring sits and how the heart shape reads in real wear. All of it tells you something specific about this design.
The Open Heart Wire Frame
The heart shape in this earring is formed from 925 sterling silver wire bent into the heart outline and soldered at the joining point. It is not stamped or cast from a solid disc. It is not a filled-in heart shape. The interior of the heart is open — you can see through the frame to the ear behind it. That open construction is what gives this earring its light, airy character on the ear.

Open wire work is harder to finish cleanly than solid metalwork. The edges of the wire are visible from all angles. The solder join at the bottom of the heart has to be smooth and undetectable. The wire has to hold its shape under the rhodium plating process without warping. The artisans at our Vietnam workshop form and solder these frames by hand. The heart silhouette visible in the lifestyle shots — clean, consistent, recognizable — is the result of that hand-forming work.
The heart frame is not purely decorative. It functions as the structural housing for both the center stone mount and the swirl accent arm. The center stone’s prong base is attached to the heart frame at the upper-left position. The swirl arm originates at the same mount and curves across the heart interior before meeting the frame at the lower-right side. The frame holds both elements in their correct positions relative to each other. If the frame warps or loses its shape, the whole composition shifts.
In the lifestyle shots, the open frame reads as a clean silver heart outline against the skin. The interior negative space is part of the design. Light passes through it. The ear skin shows through it. That transparency is what keeps this earring feeling light rather than heavy on the ear, despite having three visible components.
The Center Stone — Swiss CZ, Off-Center Placement
The center stone is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia sourced and cut to Swiss standards. Lab-created zirconium dioxide. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. José Lux states that plainly because you should know what you’re buying.

The stone sits in a prong mount in the upper portion of the heart frame, positioned off-center to the left. That off-center placement is intentional and visible in every face-on shot. A centered stone in a heart frame produces a symmetrical composition. An off-center stone leaves room for the swirl arm to move through the heart interior without the stone blocking its path. The off-center placement is what allows the swirl to feel like it’s in motion rather than fixed.
The stone is elevated above the heart frame plane on its prong mount. The side profile images show this clearly: the center stone sits higher than the wire frame around it. Light enters the stone from the sides and below, not just from the top. The four prongs hold the stone at the girdle and keep the full table open. In direct light, the CZ returns a sharp white flash. That flash is the visual anchor of the earring — the first thing the eye finds within the heart shape.
Swiss CZ reads white and bright. It doesn’t produce the rainbow color scatter of Moissanite. For this design, that’s the right choice. The heart swirl earring has a lot of moving parts visually: the frame outline, the curved swirl arm, the graduated accent stones, the center stone. Moissanite’s fire in that context would compete with the metalwork composition. CZ reads clean and lets the frame and swirl design read first.
The Swirl Accent Trail — Three Graduated CZ Stones
The swirl element is a curved silver arm that originates at the center stone’s prong mount base and arcs diagonally across the heart frame interior, sweeping from the upper-left toward the lower-right. Three micro CZ accent stones are set along this arm in a graduated sequence: largest nearest the center stone mount, stepping down to the smallest at the arm’s terminal end near the heart’s bottom point.

The graduated sizing is precise bench work. Three stones on a curved arm, each a different diameter, each in its own individual prong setting, positioned so the size step reads evenly when the earring is viewed face-on. The spacing between stones has to be consistent relative to each stone’s own diameter. If the stones are spaced by equal gaps, the graduated effect reads uneven because smaller stones need proportionally less space around them. Our artisans space the accent stones by visual proportion, not by fixed measurement. That’s something you can’t automate.
The swirl arm itself has a specific curve. It doesn’t run in a straight diagonal. It curves — the arc bends toward the heart’s interior and then straightens slightly toward the terminal point. That curve is what makes the element read as a swirl rather than a diagonal bar. Getting the same curve consistent across two earrings in a pair is part of the hand-forming process. Both earrings are checked against each other before the pair ships.
In the face-on product shots, you can see the three graduated stones clearly at the lower portion of the heart interior. The largest accent stone sits closest to the center stone mount. The sequence trails toward the heart’s bottom point. In the lifestyle shots, this trail reads as a small cascade of light beneath the main center stone flash — subordinate to the center stone but present and visible.
The Post and Screw-Back Closure
The post, screw-back nut, and backplate disc are all 925 sterling silver. Solid silver throughout. No brass at any point of ear contact.
The screw-back threads mechanically onto the post. Wind the nut clockwise down the threaded shaft until it seats against the lobe. The mechanical lock holds through daily movement, exercise, and sleep. It doesn’t depend on spring friction and it doesn’t degrade with repeated daily removal. A butterfly push-back spring weakens over time. The screw-back thread doesn’t. You unscrew it when you want it off.

The open heart wire frame means the earring is lighter than it looks. The hollow interior reduces weight significantly compared to a solid disc design of the same face dimensions. That matters for daily wear on a stud with an open frame — less post stress, better stability, less forward tilt. The screw-back closure works with that weight profile: it holds the earring level against the lobe without fighting an unbalanced load.
The screw-back nut detaches completely for cleaning. The open wire frame and the swirl arm both accumulate residue along their surfaces over time. Remove the back, hold the earring by the post, and work a soft brush with warm water and mild soap along the wire edges, around the swirl arm, and around each accent stone prong. The open construction actually makes cleaning straightforward — there’s no solid base trapping residue underneath. Rinse thoroughly. Dry before reattaching.
The Metal and Plating
Every component of this earring — the heart wire frame, the center stone prong mount, the swirl accent arm, the post, and the screw-back — is 925 sterling silver. 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper. The copper content is what gives the silver enough rigidity to hold wire form without flexing. A pure silver wire frame at the dimensions of this design would be too soft to maintain its shape under daily wear. 925 provides the right balance of workability and structural integrity.
Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. Hand-applied. The wire frame geometry makes hand application necessary. The inner surface of the heart wire is as visible as the outer surface in this design — the open interior means both sides of the wire read in wear. Machine dipping gives the outer surfaces full coverage and leaves the inner wire surfaces thin. Hand application covers both surfaces of the wire evenly.
The swirl arm and its prong settings also need even hand coverage. The prong bases sit at the junction between the curved arm and the accent stones — a recessed area that machine dipping pools at rather than coating evenly. Hand application ensures the full swirl arm surface, including each prong base junction, is plated to a consistent thickness.
Rhodium is harder than gold. The finish holds its bright white appearance through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any noticeable change. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we’ve recorded before a first re-plate: eight years. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect that timeline. Re-plating is always free at José Lux. No time limit. No conditions.
Warranty and Repairs
Every prong on a José Lux earring is set and checked before it ships. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare when prong tension is correct at the bench. Both the center stone and the three accent stones on the swirl arm are checked individually before each pair leaves the workshop.
If any Swiss CZ stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:
- Swiss CZ stone re-setting: Always free. Center stone and accent stones both covered. José Lux sources CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely. No conditions, no time limit.
- Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. Wire frame earrings benefit especially from re-plating because the wire edges see more surface exposure than flat disc designs.
- Wire frame re-forming: If the heart frame shows deformation from normal daily wear — not from a hard impact — we assess and address it case by case.
What’s not covered: stones lost from a direct hard impact, visible prong deformation from a fall, or frame distortion from mechanical force. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what’s observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.

Our Workshop
Our workshop is in Vietnam. The heart swirl earring has more fabrication steps than anything else in the current José Lux CZ earring range. Forming the heart wire. Soldering the joints. Fabricating the swirl arm with its specific curve. Attaching the center stone mount at the correct off-center position. Setting the center stone. Positioning and setting three graduated accent stones on the curved arm at correct proportional spacing. Checking the curve consistency on both earrings in the pair. Hand-plating a surface that has exposed wire edges on both sides.
The artisans who do this work at our Vietnam workshop have been building multi-component silver earrings for years. A heart wire frame that reads as a clean heart silhouette in every lifestyle shot doesn’t happen by accident. A swirl arm with a consistent curve across both earrings in a pair doesn’t happen by accident. Graduated accent stones that read at correct visual proportion to each other and to the center stone don’t happen by accident. That work is done correctly here. The images are the evidence.

FAQ
What exactly is the heart swirl design — what am I looking at in the images?
Three components. First, an open heart wire frame in 925 sterling silver — this is the heart outline you see in the images. It’s formed from wire, not stamped from a solid disc. The interior of the heart is hollow. Second, a Swiss CZ center stone in a prong mount, positioned in the upper-left portion of the heart frame — deliberately off-center. Third, a curved silver swirl arm that originates at the center stone mount and sweeps diagonally down and to the right across the heart interior, carrying three graduated micro CZ accent stones along its length. The largest accent stone sits closest to the center stone; the smallest sits nearest the bottom of the heart. That’s the full earring. The face-on product shots show all three components clearly.
Why is the center stone placed off-center?
Because the swirl arm needs room to move. A centered stone in a heart frame fills the upper interior of the heart symmetrically. That leaves no natural path for a curved element to travel through the frame without either being blocked by the stone or having to go around it awkwardly. An off-center stone placed in the upper-left creates an open diagonal path through the heart interior from upper-left to lower-right. The swirl arm follows exactly that path. The off-center stone placement and the swirl arm direction are the same design decision: one enables the other.
How does this earring wear differently from a standard stud?
It’s lighter than it looks. The open wire heart frame has no solid backing behind it. There’s no disc base adding weight behind the face of the earring. The frame itself is wire, not sheet metal. That open construction reduces the total weight significantly compared to a disc-based stud of similar face dimensions. On the ear, it sits flat and stays flat. The screw-back closure holds it level without the forward tilt you sometimes get with front-heavy studs. In the lifestyle shots, you can see the earring sitting flush against the lobe with no tilt. The heart silhouette reads fully face-on.
What size is this earring on the ear?
The lifestyle images give you the most accurate read of actual size. The heart frame occupies roughly the same face area as the lobe piercing point to the ear’s outer edge — it’s a medium-presence earring, not a micro stud and not an oversized statement piece. The heart shape is clearly readable at normal conversation distance. The center stone flash catches directional light. The swirl accent trail reads as a detail at close range. From across a table, the earring reads as a bright heart silhouette with movement.
Is the swirl arm solid or hollow?
Solid. The swirl arm is fabricated from the same 925 sterling silver wire stock as the heart frame but formed into the specific curved shape of the swirl before being attached to the center stone mount and soldered to the heart frame at the lower attachment point. It’s not hollow tubing. The accent stones sit on the solid arm in individual prong mounts. The arm has enough cross-sectional thickness to hold the prong settings for three graduated stones without flexing under the prong-closing pressure of the bench work.
Will the three accent stones stay secure on the curved swirl arm?
Yes, when set correctly — and we check that before each pair ships. Each of the three accent stones sits in its own individual prong mount on the swirl arm. The prongs are closed against each stone’s girdle with the same bench attention we apply to the center stone. A curved arm doesn’t change the prong setting mechanics. What it does require is that the artisan account for the arm’s curve when positioning the stone seat so the stone faces directly outward rather than angling with the arm curve. That’s a judgment call made at the bench on every piece. José Lux re-sets any stone that comes loose under normal daily wear for free.
How do I clean an open wire frame earring?
The open construction actually makes cleaning easier than a solid-disc earring. There’s no solid base trapping residue underneath. Remove the screw-back completely. Hold the earring by the post. Use a soft-bristle brush — a clean toothbrush works well — with warm water and mild soap. Work along both sides of the wire frame edges, along the swirl arm, and around each stone prong. The areas where the swirl arm meets the heart frame at the attachment points accumulate residue first — give those spots extra attention. Rinse thoroughly. Dry completely before reattaching the back.
How long does the plating last?
The rhodium plated white gold finish is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop — not machine-dipped. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we’ve recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Wire frame earrings see more edge surface exposure than flat disc designs, which can affect the timeline slightly. Re-plating is always free at José Lux. No time limit. Whenever the finish needs refreshing, we take care of it.
What does the warranty cover?
Stone loss from correctly set prong settings under normal daily wear is extremely rare. If any Swiss CZ stone comes loose without evidence of impact — center stone or accent stones: re-setting is free, no conditions, no time limit. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. Frame re-forming from normal wear is assessed case by case. What’s not covered: stones from a direct hard impact, visible prong deformation from a fall, or frame distortion from mechanical force. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
Where are these earrings made?
Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-form the heart wire frames, solder the joints, attach the center stone mounts and swirl arms, set the center stone and three graduated accent stones individually, check the swirl curve consistency on both earrings in a pair, and hand-plate the full rhodium finish have been doing this work for years. An open wire frame earring with a curved accent arm and four individual stone settings has more hand-fabrication steps than a standard disc-based stud. Each of those steps is visible in the finished piece — or visible in its absence if the work was done carelessly.
