We set it in a bezel frame: a low metal wall that wraps all four sides of the stone flush to the surface. No exposed prongs. The stone sits contained and level within its frame, face-up, showing the full square face. That flush setting is deliberate — it keeps the top of the ring clean and flat, and it protects the corners of the cut, which is where a princess stone is most vulnerable.

The CZ throughout this ring comes from certified Swiss import batches with documentation from the Swiss supplier to our Vietnam workshop bench. Not standard CZ. Tighter cut, better light return. On a flat-face princess cut set flush, the light behavior is different from a raised round brilliant — you get wide reflective planes instead of sparkle points. Both are correct. This one is calmer.

About the Metal and Plating

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. It’s the standard for quality silver jewelry, and it’s what José Lux uses across every piece.

Each ring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The artisans at the José Lux workshop have been plating silver for years, and the result shows — the finish is more even, holds better at the bezel wall edges, the halo channel, and along the grooved shoulder panels. Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air, which is why this finish outperforms standard white gold plating.

In practice, the rhodium plated white gold finish typically holds for around three years of regular daily wear before you notice any fading. Based on José Lux’s records, the reality is often longer — many customers come back to re-plate after five years, and some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. How long it holds depends on skin chemistry, how often you wear it, and whether you take it off around chemicals. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop.

To keep it looking its best: warm water, a drop of mild soap, 30 seconds with a soft cloth. The groove texture on the shoulders picks up grime faster than a plain surface — worth cleaning that area occasionally. Dry it right away. A polishing cloth is included with every order.

The bezel setting on a square stone requires the wall to sit at even height on all four sides — if one corner is off, it shows immediately. The settings on José Lux rings are hand-adjusted by our artisans in Vietnam. The center stone is secured within a hand-fitted bezel wall. Every halo stone and every pavé column stone is individually set by hand — not pressed in by machine. That’s why stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare at José Lux.

If a stone does become loose or fall out under normal everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux will handle it:

Swiss-certified CZ stones: Re-setting or replacing any CZ stone is always free. José Lux imports Swiss CZ in volume directly from our suppliers, so we absorb this cost entirely. This covers the center stone, all halo stones, and all pavé column stones.

Bezel wall repairs: If the bezel wall deforms or the center stone shifts under normal wear, that’s covered. No charge.

Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No conditions, no time limit.

What’s not covered: stones lost due to a hard physical impact — a ring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation of the band or bezel consistent with a fall. That’s accidental damage, not a manufacturing defect. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what is observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote first.

A bezel setting is a low metal wall that wraps all four sides of the stone flush to the surface. No exposed prongs. We use it on princess-cut stones because the corners of a square cut are the most vulnerable part. Prongs sit at the corners and can catch on things; a bezel wraps them.
