José Lux has been setting stones for over a decade. Crown settings sound simple — but a snowflake crown like this one isn’t. The prongs extend outward into points, radiating from the center stone like the arms of a snowflake. Around the base of those prongs sits a cluster of CZ stones — not a single row, not a spaced halo, but a tight grouping that fills in the geometry of the crown and wraps the center stone in light from every angle. It’s a different visual weight from a solitaire. More going on at the top, without becoming loud.

The center stone is a 6.5mm round brilliant Moissanite, GRA certified Color D, Clarity FL. Colorless and internally flawless — those aren’t marketing terms, they’re the exact grades on the certificate. 1.0ct equivalent, 58 facets. Every stone comes with its own GRA report and a unique ID number traceable to your specific stone. Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide, not a diamond. What it has over diamond is fire — more rainbow flashes in direct light, which inside that cluster crown means the whole head of the ring moves when you move your hand.

The cluster stones around the crown base and the stones on the band are all Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia. Different material from the Moissanite center. CZ is less hard, different refractive index, but clean and bright and well-matched to the center stone’s color. Their job here is to build out the crown geometry and carry the sparkle down the band. The center Moissanite is the certified stone. The CZ is everything around it. That distinction matters and José Lux wants it clear.

About the Metal and Plating

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. Three rows of CZ run along the band: one row along the top of each shoulder, and one row down each flank. That’s a lot of stones sitting in tension on a silver band. The gauge has to be right or the band flexes and stones work loose over time. José Lux cuts this properly at the workshop. Hand-set, individually checked. Not pressed out.

Each ring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The artisans at the José Lux workshop have been plating silver for years, and it shows in the result — the finish is more even, more durable at the details, and holds better at the crown prong tips, the cluster base, and the pavé flanks. Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air, which is why this finish outperforms standard white gold plating.

In practice, the rhodium plated white gold finish typically holds for around three years of regular daily wear before you notice any fading. Based on José Lux’s records, the reality is often longer — many customers come back to re-plate after five years, and some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. How long it holds depends on skin chemistry, how often you wear it, and whether you take it off around chemicals. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop.

Care is straightforward: warm water, a drop of mild soap, soft cloth, 30 seconds. Dry it immediately. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners — with this many pavé stones in the band, the vibration can slowly work settings loose over time.

That’s why stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare at José Lux.

If a stone does become loose or fall out under normal everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux will handle it:

CZ and Swiss ECZ accent stones: Re-setting or replacing these stones is always free. José Lux imports CZ and Swiss ECZ in volume directly from our suppliers, so we absorb this cost entirely. This covers all crown cluster stones and all pavé band stones.

Moissanite center stone: If the center stone is lost or needs replacement, José Lux charges at our import cost from our Hong Kong supplier — never at retail price. That’s the lowest possible charge. The labor to re-set it? Always free.

What’s not covered: stones lost due to a hard physical impact — a ring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation of the band or prongs consistent with a fall. That’s accidental damage, not a manufacturing defect. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what is observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote first.

The artisans here specialize in silver. The snowflake crown takes longer to set than a standard solitaire — the cluster geometry around the base has to be fitted stone by stone. That’s the work.

What are the crown and band stones made of?

Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia. Not Moissanite. The center stone is the GRA-certified Moissanite. The crown cluster stones and the triple pavé band stones are all CZ. They’re well-matched in color and brightness to the center, but they are a different material with different hardness. José Lux states this clearly because we want you to know exactly what you’re buying.

Is the triple pavé band durable?

Yes, if it’s made correctly. The band is properly gauged 925 sterling silver — thick enough to hold the stone load without flexing. The stones are individually hand-set, not pressure-cast. José Lux has seen cheap versions of this setting fail at the shoulders. Ours hold because the silver gauge and the setting work are done right.

What is a rhodium plated white gold finish, and how long does it last?

Rhodium is a platinum-group metal — harder than gold, naturally white, and resistant to tarnish. Applied over 925 sterling silver, a rhodium plated white gold finish creates a bright, durable surface that’s noticeably longer-lasting than standard white gold plating.
