José Lux has been setting multi-stone cluster earrings for years. A snowflake cluster looks symmetric from a distance. Up close, it’s a precision job. Seven stones, seven individual mounts, all radiating outward from a shared center point. Every stone has to sit at the same height. Every prong has to clear its neighbor without overlapping. If the spacing is off by even half a millimeter, the snowflake silhouette breaks.

These earrings are a seven-stone Swiss CZ cluster set in a snowflake arrangement: one center stone in a full prong mount, six outer stones in matching individual mounts positioned symmetrically around it. The six outer stones create the six-point snowflake shape visible in the face-on shots. The mount is open underneath — as shown in the side profile images — which allows light to enter the stones from below and from the sides. Set on a 925 sterling silver post with a screw-back closure.

What you’re looking at in the images: the earring face-on showing the full snowflake cluster, the side profile showing the mount height and open base, the earring on the ear from two angles, and a third lifestyle shot showing how the cluster reads in natural light. All of it tells you something specific about how this earring is built and how it wears.

The Stones — Seven Swiss CZ Round Brilliants

Every stone in this earring is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia sourced and cut to Swiss standards. Lab-created zirconium dioxide. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. José Lux states that clearly because you should know exactly what you’re buying.

Swiss CZ produces clean white brilliance. It returns light sharply and consistently. No rainbow fire — that’s Moissanite’s signature, not CZ’s. What Swiss CZ gives you is a strong, bright white flash in directional light, and a steady clear sparkle in ambient light. On a cluster design like this one, that matters. Seven stones in a tight snowflake arrangement catch light simultaneously. The cluster reads as a solid field of white brightness — not seven individual stones competing, but a coordinated multi-point flash.

The center stone is set in a full prong mount at the middle of the cluster. The six outer stones surround it, each in its own individual prong setting, spaced at equal intervals to create the six-point snowflake silhouette. Matching stone sizes and cut grades across all seven stones is what makes the cluster read as a unified design rather than a loose assortment. José Lux sources matched sets for this earring specifically — consistent diameter, consistent cut, consistent table alignment. That matching is visible in the face-on product shots.

In the lifestyle images, you can see exactly how the cluster reads on the ear. The seven stones fill the mount surface completely — no visible metal between stones in normal light. The cluster sits compact and flat against the lobe, with enough height in the mount to let the stones catch directional light. In natural light, the snowflake reads as a solid bright cluster. When light hits from the side, individual stone flashes become visible within the overall shape. That’s the optical character of this earring.

The Snowflake Mount — Seven Individual Prong Settings

The mount is the structural work behind the snowflake shape. Seven individual prong settings share a common base disc. The center stone sits in its own full prong mount at the middle. Each of the six outer stones sits in its own two-prong setting, angled outward from the center at even 60-degree intervals. When all six outer stones are set and prongs closed, the silhouette reads as a six-point snowflake.

Getting that silhouette right is bench work. Each outer stone has to be positioned at exactly the correct angle from center. The prong tips for adjacent stones have to clear each other without crossing. The stone height across all seven mounts has to be level — if any outer stone sits higher or lower than the others, the snowflake reads uneven. José Lux artisans at our Vietnam workshop check stone height and radial alignment on every earring before it ships. Both earrings in the pair are checked side by side for matching alignment.

The mount base is open underneath, as visible in the side profile shots. That open construction is deliberate — it allows light to enter the pavilion of each stone from below, which increases brightness across the full cluster. A closed, solid base would cut off that light path. The open base also makes the earring lighter to wear, which matters on a multi-stone cluster.

The side profile images show the full mount height. The stones sit elevated above the disc base, not recessed into it. That elevation means the stones catch side light as well as top light. On the ear, it reads as a cluster that has dimensional presence rather than a flat printed effect.

The Post and Screw-Back Closure

The post, screw-back nut, and backplate disc are all 925 sterling silver. Solid silver throughout. No brass at any point of ear contact.

The screw-back threads onto the post and locks mechanically. Wind the nut clockwise down the threaded shaft until it seats against the back of the lobe. That mechanical lock holds through daily movement, exercise, and sleep. A butterfly push-back relies on spring friction that weakens over time and with repeated daily removal. A screw-back doesn’t degrade that way — it locks until you actively unscrew it.

The screw-back nut detaches completely from the post for cleaning. On a seven-stone cluster with an open base, residue accumulates under the stones over time. Being able to fully clean the mount from below keeps the stones looking their brightest. Warm water, mild soap, a soft brush worked through the open base and around each stone. Rinse thoroughly. Thread re-engages the same way every time.

The silver post means no plated brass corroding against the piercing over time. That’s the standard on every José Lux stud earring we make.

The Metal and Plating

The full earring — the snowflake mount, the seven prong settings, the disc base, the post, and the screw-back — is 925 sterling silver. 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The copper fraction is what gives the silver the rigidity to hold prong tension across seven individual stone settings without flexing at the base.

Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Our artisans have been hand-plating silver for years. Hand application allows even coverage on the complex geometry of a snowflake mount — the inside faces of each prong pair, the spaces between adjacent outer stone settings, the underside of the open base structure. Machine dipping pools at the recessed surfaces and misses the tight angles. Hand application covers everything evenly.

Rhodium is harder than gold. The finish holds its bright white appearance through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any noticeable change. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we’ve recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and exposure to chemicals all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at José Lux — no time limit, no conditions.

Warranty and Repairs

Every stone on a José Lux earring is set and checked before it ships. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare. That’s the result of correct bench work, not luck.

If a Swiss CZ stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:

  • Swiss CZ stone re-setting: Always free. José Lux sources CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely. No conditions, no time limit.
  • Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
  • Prong re-tipping or re-finishing: If a prong shows deformation from normal wear, we re-tip it at no charge.

What’s not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible prong deformation consistent with a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what’s observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who build the seven-stone snowflake mounts, close prongs on each individual stone setting, check radial alignment and stone height across both earrings in a pair, fabricate the screw-back closures from sterling silver, and hand-plate the full rhodium finish have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online.

A snowflake cluster looks like a simple shape from a distance. Getting the six outer stones at exact 60-degree intervals, all at the same height as the center, with prong tips cleared between adjacent settings — that’s bench work done carefully, on every piece, before it ships. We’ve set enough multi-stone clusters to know exactly where the work can go wrong. Ours don’t, because the alignment is checked before the earring leaves the workshop.

Your Earrings Arrive Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your earrings ship in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds each earring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the earrings themselves are wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before they go into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

What makes this a snowflake design?

The shape comes from the stone arrangement. One center stone sits in the middle. Six outer stones surround it at equal 60-degree intervals — the same spacing you find in a natural snowflake’s hexagonal structure. When all six outer stones are set and viewed from the front, the prong-tip points between each stone pair form six outward projections. That six-point radial silhouette is the snowflake. It’s not printed or etched — it’s formed entirely by the geometry of how the seven stones are positioned relative to each other. The snowflake shape is visible in the lifestyle images on the ear and in the face-on product shots.

Is the stone Swiss CZ or Moissanite?

Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, not Moissanite. CZ is zirconium dioxide. Moissanite is silicon carbide. They are different materials. Moissanite has more fire — stronger rainbow color dispersion in directional light. CZ returns cleaner white brilliance. On a seven-stone cluster like this one, CZ is the right choice. Seven Moissanite stones in a tight cluster can read as too much rainbow scatter — the fire from each stone competes with the others. Swiss CZ in a cluster reads as a cohesive field of white brightness. The design intention is a snowflake that sparkles cleanly, not a cluster that flashes color in every direction. José Lux uses Swiss CZ here by design, not as a cost compromise.

How does the snowflake cluster look on the ear?

The lifestyle images show exactly that. The cluster sits flat and compact against the lobe — no dangling, no extension below the piercing point. The seven-stone face reads as a bright, cohesive snowflake shape rather than seven separate stones. In natural light, the cluster catches light as a unified surface and flashes together. In directional light, you start to see the individual stone flashes within the overall shape. The earring has real presence on the ear without reading as oversized — the snowflake silhouette fills the lobe proportionally. It works as an everyday earring and it works dressed up. The rhodium plated white finish is bright white in all the lifestyle shots, matching the CZ color exactly.

Why screw-back instead of butterfly push-back on a cluster earring?

Weight and security. A snowflake cluster earring is heavier than a single solitaire stud — seven stones plus the full cluster mount weigh more than one stone in a simple prong setting. A butterfly push-back holds the post by spring friction. That friction has to support the earring’s full weight throughout the day. With a heavier earring, a worn push-back spring lets the earring tilt forward on the lobe. A screw-back threads mechanically onto the post. The mechanical lock doesn’t depend on spring tension, doesn’t degrade with repeated daily removal, and holds the same regardless of earring weight. For a cluster earring worn daily, the screw-back is the right closure.

How do I clean a seven-stone cluster earring?

Remove the screw-back completely from the post. That gives you full access to the open underside of the cluster mount. Use a soft brush — a clean, soft-bristle toothbrush works well — with warm water and mild soap. Work the bristles through the open base, around each stone, and between the outer prong settings where residue accumulates. Rinse thoroughly under warm water. Dry completely before reattaching the screw-back. The open base construction on this mount is specifically what makes thorough cleaning possible. A closed-base cluster traps residue underneath the stones indefinitely. This one doesn’t.

How long does the plating last?

The rhodium plated white gold finish is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop — not machine-dipped. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we’ve recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, how often you wear them, and whether you take them off around chemicals all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. Whenever the time comes, we take care of it.

What does the warranty cover?

Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare with correctly set prong settings. If a Swiss CZ stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts: re-setting is always free, no conditions, no time limit. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. Prong re-tipping from normal wear is free. What’s not covered: stones lost from a drop or hard impact, or visible prong deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux is honest about that rather than promising a window we can’t control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.

Where are these earrings made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who position the seven individual stone settings, close the prongs on each one, check radial alignment across both earrings in a pair, and hand-plate the rhodium finish have been doing this work for years. Setting a seven-stone cluster correctly — all stones level, all stones aligned, snowflake silhouette intact on both earrings — requires real bench attention. This is José Lux’s own workshop, not a third-party factory. The origin is not a footnote. It’s the reason the work is consistent.
