This is the most involved ring we make. I'm going to tell you exactly why.

I've been at José Lux for ten years. In that time, I've set rings with single prongs, pavé bands, cluster crowns. This one — the Vintage Filigree Hidden Halo — is the one I take the most time on. Not because I have to. Because the design demands it.

Start with the center stone. This isn't a 6.5mm 1ct stone. This is an 8mm, 2ct equivalent round brilliant Moissanite, GRA certified Color D, Clarity FL, Excellent cut. 58 facets. Colorless. Internally flawless. The certificate number on the GRA report — 20389135 — is registered to your specific stone. At 8mm, this stone is genuinely large. Moissanite has more fire than diamond, meaning more rainbow flashes in direct light. At 2ct, that fire doesn't just catch the light — it commands the room.

Now the setting. There are three things happening at the crown that most people don't notice until they look closely. First: the main prongs hold the stone with an open crown silhouette. Second: a hidden halo — a ring of small CZ stones set underneath the crown, flush against the base — sits invisible from the front and only reveals itself from the side. Third: three clusters of CZ stones fill in at the left shoulder, right shoulder, and base of the crown, bridging the gap between the crown head and the band. None of this is visible in a thumbnail. It's visible in person and in the side-view photo.

The band is where this ring becomes a different category entirely. The filigree scrollwork — open, curling metalwork cut directly into the silver — runs along both sides of the band between the shoulders. This is not surface engraving. It's pierced metalwork, openwork, done by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Next to the filigree runs a milgrain bead edge — a line of tiny raised silver dots along each outer edge of the band, the same technique used in vintage jewelry from the early 20th century. On top of the band runs a single row of pavé CZ. Three layers of detail on a band that most rings would leave plain.

The CZ stones throughout — hidden halo, crown clusters, pavé band — are Swiss CZ, not Moissanite. The center 8mm stone is the only GRA-certified Moissanite. I want that distinction clear before you buy.

About the Metal, Filigree, and Plating

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper. The filigree requires a properly gauged silver that holds its shape through the openwork cutting process without becoming brittle. Too thin and the filigree flexes and fatigues. We've done this long enough to know the right gauge.

Each ring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The plating sits across the filigree, the milgrain edge, the pavé band, and the crown all at once. That's a complex surface to plate evenly. It takes longer by hand, but the result is a consistent finish across every part of the ring, including the recessed areas of the openwork. Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air, which is why this finish outperforms standard white gold plating.

In practice, the rhodium plated white gold finish typically holds for around three years of regular daily wear before you notice any fading. That said, in my experience tracking customer orders over the years, the reality is often longer — many customers come back to re-plate after five years, and some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. How long it holds depends on skin chemistry, how often you wear it, and whether you take it off around chemicals. Re-plating is covered under the lifetime warranty, so the ring keeps going as long as you want it to.

Care for a filigree ring takes slightly more attention than a plain band. Warm water, a drop of mild soap, a soft brush for the openwork recesses, 30 seconds. Dry it completely — moisture in the filigree pockets will accelerate tarnish. No ultrasonic cleaners. The vibration can work the hidden halo stones loose over time.

Certification Included with Every Order

Every ring ships with the full GRA gemological certificate for the Moissanite center stone. Report number 20389135. Color D, Clarity FL, Round Brilliant, 8.0mm, 2.0ct, Excellent cut. Physical certificate — not a branded card. This is the same documentation format used in professional gemological assessment worldwide. The report number is traceable to your stone.

Warranty and Repairs

Lifetime warranty. The filigree cracks — I repair it. The center stone loosens — I reset it. A hidden halo CZ falls out — I replace and reset it. A pavé stone on the band works loose — same. Normal wear is covered, always. What's not covered: stones you've lost that can't be returned, impact damage, alterations done by another jeweler. Anything outside that scope, we fix at cost — with a quote before we touch it.

Shipping

Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking goes out the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can run into customs delays — I'll tell you that upfront rather than promise a timeline I can't guarantee.

Your Ring Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your ring ships in two layers of packaging. The inner ring box holds the ring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the ring itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before it goes into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. The only situation we can't guarantee is an address entered incorrectly at checkout. Even then, we refund you in full. You either receive your ring in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. Every stone in this ring was hand-set there. Every band hand-plated, hand-finished — no machine output. The artisans who made yours specialize in silver. That's all they do.

FAQ SECTION

What is a hidden halo and where is it on this ring?

A hidden halo is a ring of small CZ stones set underneath the crown — beneath the prongs, flush against the base of the setting. From the front, you see the center stone and the crown. From the side, the halo appears. It adds sparkle from angles that a standard solitaire doesn't have, without changing the clean front profile of the ring.

What's the difference between the filigree and the pavé band?

Two separate things on the same band. The filigree is pierced openwork metalwork — the silver is physically cut into scrolling patterns, creating an open, lace-like structure. The milgrain is a line of tiny raised dots along each outer edge. The pavé is one row of CZ stones set along the top surface of the band. All three run the length of the shoulder on both sides. That's what makes the band on this ring different from anything else in our collection.

The center stone is 2ct — how does that affect the look on the finger?

Significantly. At 8mm, this stone sits visibly larger than a standard 6.5mm 1ct stone. Moissanite has more fire than diamond — more rainbow flashes in direct light. At 2ct, the center stone is the focal point of the ring from across a room. The hidden halo, crown clusters, and filigree band all support it rather than compete with it.

Are the halo, cluster, and band stones Moissanite?

No. The center stone is the only GRA-certified Moissanite — 8mm, 2ct, Color D-FL. The hidden halo stones, crown cluster stones, and pavé band stones are all Swiss CZ (cubic zirconia). Different material, different hardness. I want that clear before you order.

What is a rhodium plated white gold finish, and how long does it last?

Rhodium is a platinum-group metal — harder than gold, naturally white, and resistant to tarnish. Applied over 925 sterling silver, a rhodium plated white gold finish creates a bright, durable surface that's noticeably longer-lasting than standard white gold plating. On a ring with this much surface detail — filigree, milgrain, pavé — we apply it by hand at our Vietnam workshop to ensure even coverage in every recess.

In terms of durability: the finish typically holds around three years of regular daily wear. But in practice, many of our customers come back to re-plate after five years, and some have gone eight years before they noticed any fading. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and exposure to chemicals all affect how long it lasts. Re-plating is covered under the lifetime warranty — so whenever the time comes, we take care of it.

How do I clean a ring with filigree openwork?

Warm water, a drop of mild soap, a soft brush for the openwork recesses, 30 seconds. Dry it completely afterward — moisture in the filigree pockets will accelerate tarnish faster than on a plain band. No ultrasonic cleaners. The vibration can loosen the hidden halo stones over time.

Does sterling silver tarnish?

Yes. 925 sterling silver reacts with air, moisture, and skin chemistry over time — that's chemistry, not a defect. The rhodium plated white gold finish slows this down significantly. When the plating eventually wears, cleaning is straightforward: warm water, mild soap, a soft brush for the filigree recesses, dry immediately.

What does the lifetime warranty cover on a design this detailed?

All normal wear: filigree repairs, center stone resetting, hidden halo and crown cluster CZ replacement, pavé stone replacement. Lost stones that aren't returned aren't covered. Accidental damage and third-party alterations aren't covered. Anything outside the warranty scope, we still fix — at cost, with a clear quote upfront.

How do I find my ring size?

We make every ring to your size — custom fit. Use our sizing guide and 60-second measurement video to get your measurement right before ordering. If you're between sizes or unsure, message us first — it's easier to get it right upfront than to adjust later.

Where is this ring made?

Handmade at our workshop in Vietnam. The filigree cutting, milgrain beading, hidden halo setting, rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand — all done there by the same artisans who've been working with silver longer than I have. A ring with this many hand-finishing steps takes significantly more time on the bench than a standard solitaire. You'll see that in the result.
