José Lux has been hand-setting stones in men's silver pendants for over a decade. The baguette cross is the most technically demanding cross pendant we make. It runs two stone types simultaneously across every arm — baguette-cut Swiss CZ channel-set down the center of each arm, flanked by rows of round Swiss CZ in micro pave on both sides. The arm ends are finished with cylindrical barrel caps, also fully stone-set. Every element of this pendant is iced. There is no bare silver visible on the front face.

At 4.1cm tall and 2.9cm wide, this is a statement pendant. Men who buy it know what they're looking for — a cross that reads at a distance, with the kind of stone work that holds up under close inspection. The pendant ships with a box chain — 55cm (21.6 in), 925 sterling silver, rhodium plated to match. Box chain drapes cleanly and carries the pendant weight without twisting.

Every stone in this pendant is hand-set by the artisans at the José Lux Vietnam workshop. Running baguette channel work and micro pave side-by-side on a cross structure — with consistent alignment at the center intersection and finished barrel caps at each arm end — takes significant bench time. It can't be rushed without the quality difference showing immediately.

The Baguette Cross Pendant — Design and Stone Setting

The cross is built on a solid 925 sterling silver frame. Each arm has three distinct stone zones running in parallel from arm tip to center intersection: a center row of baguette-cut Swiss CZ, channel-set in sequence with the stones stepping end-to-end down the arm; and two flanking rows of round Swiss CZ in micro pave, running alongside the baguette channel on both edges of the arm.

Baguette-cut stones are rectangular — longer than they are wide, with step-cut facets rather than brilliant facets. In a channel setting, baguette stones produce a continuous mirrored surface along the arm face: each stone reflects light across its full face rather than scattering it in multiple directions the way a round brilliant does. The result is a bold, high-contrast stone line running down the center of each arm.

The round pave stones on both sides of the center channel do the opposite — they scatter light in multiple directions, creating sparkle that contrasts with the baguette center. Running both stone types side-by-side is what makes this pendant read differently from a single-stone-type cross. The combination produces both mirror flash and scattered sparkle across the same arm face simultaneously.

The arm ends are finished with cylindrical barrel caps — stone-set on their outer faces to match the arm coverage. The barrel caps are structural: they cap the channel ends and prevent the baguette stones from shifting in the channel over time. They also extend the visual width of each arm end, making the cross read larger than its 4.1cm × 2.9cm footprint suggests.

The bail above the cross is also stone-set, matching the round pave density of the arm edges. When the pendant hangs on the chain, no bare silver is visible from the front face.

Swiss CZ is Cubic Zirconia manufactured to a consistent optical standard. José Lux sources baguette-cut CZ and round CZ from the same certified import lots to ensure the color temperature and clarity grade are matched — so the center channel and the pave edges read as the same white across the full pendant surface. Mismatched CZ lots produce a pendant where the center stones read differently from the edge stones. Ours don't.

Every stone is hand-set. The baguette stones are individually seated in the channel before the rails are closed. The round pave stones are individually placed and secured. José Lux doesn't machine-press either setting type. Hand-setting takes more time. It's also the only way to catch a misaligned baguette or a raised pave stone before it leaves the workshop.

The Box Chain

The chain included with this pendant is a box chain — square links connected in a continuous line, producing a smooth, flat surface along the full length. Box chain doesn't twist under pendant weight and sits flat on the neck without the link faces catching on each other. For a pendant this size and weight, that drape consistency matters.

At 55cm (21.6 in), the chain places the pendant at mid-chest on most men — the correct wear position for a statement cross at this scale. The chain and pendant are matched in finish: both rhodium plated white gold, both hand-applied at the José Lux workshop.

The Metal and Plating

The pendant and chain are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. A cross pendant with baguette channel work and cylindrical arm caps requires a rigid frame that holds its geometry under the pressure of hand-set stones and daily wear. The copper content in 925 is what keeps that frame stable. Pure silver at this structure would deform.

Every piece gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. Hand application gives even coverage across the baguette channel rails, the pave stone surfaces, the barrel cap faces, the bail, and the box chain links — including the step edges of the baguette settings where machine dipping leaves inconsistent thickness.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. The finish keeps the pendant and chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate.

Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. Whenever the finish needs refreshing, we handle it.

The Clasp — Hand-Finished Lobster Claw

The lobster claw clasp on this chain is hand-crafted and hand-finished at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The spring mechanism engages cleanly and holds under the movement of daily wear — including the pull of a pendant at this size and weight. It doesn't rattle. It doesn't open unexpectedly.

Single-hand operation: press the lever, hook the ring, release. Easy to remove when you need to clean the chain or the pendant. The clasp also unhooks cleanly from the bail loop when you want to swap the pendant to a different chain. Every clasp is tested at the workshop before the necklace ships. If it doesn't hold to our satisfaction, we adjust it. If it can't be adjusted, it's replaced.

Care

The rhodium plated white gold finish protects the silver surface on both the pendant and chain. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs), bleach, strong household cleaners, and perfume applied directly to the piece. These accelerate finish wear.

For the pendant: baguette channel settings and micro pave edges collect residue between stones over time. A soft brush with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap, worked carefully along the baguette channels and across the pave edges, rinse thoroughly, air dry fully. Pay attention to the barrel cap ends — residue accumulates in the gap between the cap and the arm. Monthly cleaning keeps the stones bright.

The polishing cloth José Lux includes with every order handles light surface residue on the chain between deeper cleans.

Warranty

José Lux's goal is simple: your pendant and chain should last as long as you want to wear them.

Swiss CZ re-setting: always free. If a baguette stone shifts in its channel or a pave stone comes loose under normal daily wear, José Lux re-sets it at no charge. José Lux imports Swiss CZ at volume — the cost of replacement stones is absorbed by the workshop.

Rhodium re-plating: always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. When the finish fades after years of daily wear, we re-plate at no charge.

Clasp: if the lobster claw fails under normal daily wear — no impacts, no bending from force — José Lux repairs or replaces it.

What's not covered: visible physical damage from hard impact — baguette channel rail deformation from a drop or strike, barrel cap displacement from a hard knock, or pave stone loss from a physical impact. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set this pendant and apply the rhodium plating have been doing this work for years. Every baguette stone is individually seated. Every pave stone is individually placed. Every clasp is tested before the necklace ships.

A baguette cross at this size looks bold and straightforward. Building it correctly isn't. The baguette channel has to run straight down each arm with consistent stone-to-stone spacing. The pave edges alongside it have to match in density from arm tip to center intersection. The center intersection — where all four channels meet — has to be managed so the stone lines converge cleanly without gaps or raised edges. The barrel cap ends have to be set to the same density as the arm body. The bail has to match the arm pave. José Lux has been doing this long enough to know exactly where cheaper versions of this pendant fail — baguette channels that bow slightly off-center, pave edges that thin out toward the arm tips, barrel caps with sparse coverage. Ours don't have those problems. Because every stone is placed by hand, in the right position, before the pendant leaves the workshop.

Your Necklace Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your necklace ships in two layers of packaging. The inner box holds the chain and pendant securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the necklace itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before it goes into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your necklace in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can encounter customs delays — José Lux states that upfront rather than promise a window we can't control.

A silver polishing cloth and a José Lux warranty card from the workshop are included with every order.

FAQ

What makes this a baguette cross pendant?

Most iced out cross pendants use a single stone type — round pave or channel across all arms. This pendant uses two stone types simultaneously on every arm: a center row of baguette-cut Swiss CZ, channel-set in a continuous line down the arm, and two flanking rows of round Swiss CZ in micro pave on both edges. Baguette stones are rectangular with step-cut facets — they produce a mirrored flash along the arm center. Round pave stones scatter light in multiple directions. Running both types side-by-side gives the pendant two different light effects across the same arm face.

What are the barrel caps at the arm ends?

Each arm of the cross ends with a cylindrical barrel cap — a rounded silver end piece that caps the channel and is itself fully stone-set. The barrel caps serve two purposes: structurally, they close the baguette channel ends and prevent the stones from shifting out over time; visually, they extend the arm width at the tips and give each arm end a three-dimensional finish rather than a flat edge. The barrel caps are paved in round CZ to match the arm edge stones.

How large is this pendant and how does it wear?

4.1cm tall × 2.9cm wide — approximately 1.6 inches × 1.1 inches. At that size, it's a statement pendant. It sits at mid-chest on a 55cm chain, clearly visible against any neckline and reads at a distance. Men who order this pendant are not looking for something subtle. They know the size and they want it to be seen. If you want to confirm the scale before ordering, message us directly.

Are the baguette and round CZ matched?

Yes. José Lux sources both the baguette-cut CZ and the round CZ for this pendant from the same certified Swiss CZ import lot. That means the color temperature and clarity grade are the same across both stone types — the center channel and the pave edges read as the same white when the pendant is worn. Pendants that source baguette and round stones separately often have a visible color difference between the center and edge stones. Ours don't.

Why a lobster claw clasp?

For a pendant necklace at this weight, a lobster claw clasp is the most reliable close. The spring mechanism holds firmly under the movement of a large, heavy pendant in daily wear. Single-hand operation — press the lever, hook, release. Easy to remove for cleaning. Easy to unhook from the bail loop to swap the pendant. José Lux hand-finishes every lobster claw clasp at the Vietnam workshop and tests it before the necklace ships.

How does the rhodium plating work and how long does it last?

The rhodium plated white gold finish is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop — not machine-dipped. Hand application gives even coverage across the baguette channel rails, the pave stone surfaces, the barrel cap faces, and the box chain links — including the step edges of the baguette settings. Rhodium is harder than gold and keeps the piece bright white through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years. Many customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years before the first re-plate. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit.

What happens if a stone comes loose?

Swiss CZ re-setting is always free at José Lux — for both baguette and round stones. We import at volume; the cost is absorbed by the workshop. Baguette channel stone shift and pave stone loss from normal daily wear are both rare in a properly hand-set pendant. If either happens without impact damage, contact the workshop and we handle it. What's not covered: visible rail or frame deformation from a hard impact. José Lux inspects each case and communicates clearly.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.

Where is this pendant made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set the baguette channels, micro pave edges, barrel cap stones, and bail on this pendant have been doing this work for years. A baguette-and-pave combination cross at this scale is one of the more complex pendant builds we do. Getting the baguette alignment consistent down each arm, the pave edges even alongside it, and the barrel caps finished to the same stone density — all of that is bench work, piece by piece, before it ships.
