The Brick Bear Pendant — Design and Stone Setting

The pendant is a fully three-dimensional bear figure — not a flat profile. It stands upright with a rounded head, two round ears, a blocky rectangular body, two arms extending from the sides, and two legs at the base. Each body part is a separate volume, and each one is fully paved in Swiss CZ across its visible surfaces.

The head carries round pave CZ across the full face and top. The two round ears are each individually paved — including the inner ear curve, which is one of the harder surfaces to cover consistently given the small radius. The body is the largest stone surface: a broad rectangular block paved across the full front face. The arms curve outward from the shoulder joints and are paved along their outer surfaces. The legs hang parallel at the base and are paved on their front and side faces.

The joint lines between body parts — where the head meets the body, where the arms meet the shoulders, where the legs meet the base of the body — are the most demanding coverage areas. These gaps are narrow and the stone access is restricted. Cheaper versions of this pendant leave these joint gaps as bare silver lines. José Lux artisans set stones into the joint gap edges as far as the physical space allows, minimizing the visible bare silver at every joint.

The bail above the head is double-row pave in round Swiss CZ — two parallel rows running the length of the bail, matched in density to the head stone coverage. When the pendant hangs on the chain, the bail stone coverage flows directly into the head pave without a visible gap.

Swiss CZ is Cubic Zirconia manufactured to a consistent optical standard. For a full-body figure pendant with this many separate pave zones, stone consistency across every body part is what determines whether the pendant reads as a unified iced piece or as a collection of separately covered parts. José Lux sources all CZ for this pendant from the same certified import lot — the color temperature and cut grade are consistent across head, ears, body, arms, legs, and bail.

Every stone is hand-set. A three-dimensional figure with curved surfaces, small-radius ears, and restricted joint gaps cannot be machine-pressed with consistent results. The Three-Dimensional Figure — What Makes It Read Correctly

The Metal and Plating

The pendant and chain are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The copper content in 925 keeps the structure stable.

Every piece gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. It doesn't open unexpectedly. Single-hand operation: press the lever, hook the ring, release. Easy to remove for cleaning. Easy to unhook from the bail to swap the pendant. Every clasp is tested at the workshop before the necklace ships.

Care

The rhodium plated white gold finish protects the silver surface on both the pendant and chain. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs), bleach, strong household cleaners, and perfume applied directly to the piece.

For the pendant: a three-dimensional figure with multiple body parts collects residue in the joint gaps and the inner ear curves. A soft brush with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap, worked carefully across all surfaces including the ear curves and joint edges, rinse thoroughly from multiple angles to clear the gap residue, air dry fully. Monthly cleaning keeps every stone zone bright.

What's not covered: visible physical damage from hard impact — body part deformation from a drop, joint gap widening from a hard strike, or stone loss from visible impact damage. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set this pendant and apply the rhodium plating have been doing this work for years. Every stone is placed individually. Every clasp is tested before the necklace ships.

A fully iced three-dimensional bear figure looks complete and deliberate when it's done right. Getting there requires working every surface of every body part in sequence — head first, then ears, then body, then arms, then legs — adjusting to the geometry of each zone as you go. The inner ear curves are the hardest: small radius, restricted access, and the stones have to seat without crowding each other on a tight curve. The joint gaps are the most visible test: how close can you get stone coverage to the gap edge before the physical space runs out. José Lux has been doing this long enough to know the answers to both. And to know where cheaper versions of this pendant stop trying before the work is finished. Ours don't stop.
