José Lux has been hand-setting stones in men's silver pendants for over a decade. The cross is one of the most direct pieces of men's jewelry — no ambiguity in the shape, no trend attached to it. It either works for the man wearing it or it doesn't. This pendant is fully iced out in Swiss CZ, channel-set in rows along every arm of the cross, hand-finished at our Vietnam workshop on a 925 sterling silver base with a rhodium plated white gold finish.

The pendant ships with a box chain — 55cm (21.6 in), 925 sterling silver, rhodium plated to match. The box pattern sits flat on the neck and drapes cleanly under the weight of the pendant. Worn together, the cross pendant sits at mid-chest: clear, direct, and wears well under an open collar or over a crew neck.

Every stone in this pendant is hand-set by the artisans at the José Lux Vietnam workshop. Channel setting at this density — covering all four arms of the cross and the bail — takes bench time. It can't be rushed without it showing in the alignment and stone coverage.

The Cross Pendant — Design and Stone Setting

The cross is built on a solid 925 sterling silver frame — not hollow. Each arm of the cross carries two parallel rows of Swiss CZ stones, channel-set from arm tip to center. Channel setting means the stones are held between two parallel rails of silver rather than by individual prongs. The result is a continuous line of stones with no gaps and no exposed silver between them — the cross reads fully iced across every surface.

The bail above the cross is also stone-set, matching the density of the pendant body. When the pendant hangs on the chain, no bare metal is visible from the front face. The stones run uninterrupted from bail to arm tip on all four sides.

Swiss CZ is Cubic Zirconia manufactured to a consistent optical standard. Clean, white, and bright under all light conditions. In direct light it throws strong white flashes. Indoors it stays bright and reads consistently across the full stone surface of the pendant. José Lux uses Swiss CZ specifically because cut consistency matters in channel setting — stones that vary in dimension by even a fraction cause rail misalignment and visible gaps. Tight spec stones don't.

Every stone is hand-set. Each CZ is individually placed and seated in its channel before the rails are pressed closed. José Lux doesn't machine-press channel settings. Hand-setting takes longer. It also means a stone that's seated off-center gets caught and corrected at the bench before the pendant ships.

The Box Chain

The chain included with this pendant is a box chain — square links connected in a continuous line, producing a smooth, even surface along the full length. The box pattern is one of the cleanest chain profiles for a pendant necklace: it doesn't twist, it doesn't kink under pendant weight, and it sits flat on the neck without the link faces catching on each other.

At 55cm (21.6 in), the chain places the pendant at mid-chest on most men. That's the standard wear position for a cross pendant — long enough to sit below the collar on any neckline, short enough to stay visible above a crew neck when you want it to. The chain and pendant are matched in finish: both rhodium plated white gold, both hand-applied at the José Lux workshop.

The Metal and Plating

The pendant and chain are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The copper content is what keeps the channel rails rigid under the pressure of hand-set stones and maintains the box chain link geometry through daily flexing. Pure silver at this weight would deform.

Every piece gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. Hand application gives even coverage across the channel rails, the stone faces, the bail, and the box chain links — the detail points where machine dipping leaves inconsistent thickness.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. The finish keeps the pendant and chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions. Whenever the finish needs refreshing, we handle it.

The Clasp — Hand-Finished Lobster Claw

The lobster claw clasp on this chain is hand-crafted and hand-finished at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The spring mechanism engages cleanly and holds under the movement of daily wear — including the added pull of a pendant. It doesn't rattle. It doesn't open unexpectedly.

Single-hand operation: press the lever, hook the ring, release. That's it. Takes under two seconds to put on or take off. Easy to remove when you need to clean the chain or the pendant. The clasp also unhooks cleanly from the bail loop when you want to swap the cross onto a different chain.

Every clasp is tested at the workshop before the necklace ships. If it doesn't hold to our satisfaction, we adjust it. If it can't be adjusted, it's replaced. You don't receive a necklace with a clasp we're not confident in.

Care

The rhodium plated white gold finish protects the silver surface on both the pendant and chain. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs), bleach, strong household cleaners, and perfume applied directly to the piece. These accelerate finish wear.

For the pendant: channel-set stones collect soap residue and skin oils over time. A soft brush — a clean toothbrush works — with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap, worked gently across the stone channels, rinse thoroughly, air dry. Do it monthly and the stones stay bright.

The polishing cloth José Lux includes with every order handles light surface residue on the chain between deeper cleans.

Warranty

José Lux's goal is simple: your pendant and chain should last as long as you want to wear them.

Swiss CZ re-setting: always free. If a stone comes loose from its channel under normal daily wear, José Lux re-sets it at no charge. No conditions. José Lux imports Swiss CZ at volume — the cost of a replacement stone is absorbed by the workshop.

Rhodium re-plating: always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. The finish wears over years of daily wear — that's expected. When it does, we re-plate at no charge.

Clasp: if the lobster claw fails under normal daily wear — no impacts, no bending from force — José Lux repairs or replaces it.

What's not covered: stones displaced by hard physical impact — pendant dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or with visible rail deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what's observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set the Swiss CZ stones in this pendant and apply the rhodium plating have been doing this work for years. Every stone is seated individually. Every clasp is tested before the necklace ships.

A cross pendant with channel-set CZ looks clean and straightforward. Getting there isn't. The rail alignment has to be consistent across all four arms. The stone-to-stone spacing has to be even. The bail setting has to match the density of the pendant arms. The rhodium has to cover the rail edges and the stone faces without pooling in the channels. José Lux has been doing this long enough to know exactly where cheaper versions of this pendant fail — rails that bow outward at the arm tips, stone coverage that thins out near the center intersection, bail settings that don't match the arm density. Ours don't have those problems. Because each piece is finished by hand, stone by stone, before it leaves the workshop.

Your Necklace Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your necklace ships in two layers of packaging. The inner box holds the chain and pendant securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the necklace itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before it goes into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your necklace in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

What stones are in this pendant?

Every stone in this pendant is Swiss CZ — Cubic Zirconia manufactured to a consistent optical standard. Channel-set in two parallel rows along each arm of the cross, and along the bail. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. Swiss CZ at this cut consistency delivers clean, uniform white brilliance across a large stone surface with no visible variation between stones. Every stone is hand-set at our Vietnam workshop. No machine pressing.

What is channel setting and why does José Lux use it?

Channel setting holds each stone between two parallel rails of silver rather than using individual prongs. The stones sit flush to each other with no gaps and no exposed metal between them — the cross arm reads as a continuous stone surface, not a row of individually mounted stones. For a cross pendant, channel setting is the right choice: it's cleaner visually and more secure than prong setting for stones arranged in a grid pattern. José Lux hand-sets every channel — rails are pressed closed individually, not machine-stamped.

What is Swiss CZ and why does José Lux use it?

Swiss CZ is Cubic Zirconia produced to a tighter cut and clarity standard than generic CZ. In channel setting, dimension consistency between stones matters more than in pave or prong setting — a stone that's fractionally smaller or larger than its neighbors causes the rail to seat unevenly, creating visible gaps or raised edges. José Lux imports Swiss CZ specifically because the tolerances are tight enough for channel work. We also import at volume, which means re-setting a loose stone costs us nothing to pass to you.

Why 55cm and is that right for me?

55cm is approximately 21.6 inches. That places the pendant at mid-chest on most men — the standard wear position for a cross pendant. Long enough to sit below the collar on any neckline. Short enough to stay visible above a crew neck when you want it to. Every customer at José Lux has been satisfied with this length for a pendant necklace. If you want to confirm before ordering, message us directly.

Why a lobster claw clasp?

For a pendant necklace at this weight, a lobster claw clasp is the most practical and reliable close. The spring mechanism holds firmly under the movement of a pendant and box chain in daily wear. Single-hand operation — press the lever, hook, release. Takes under two seconds. Easy to take off for cleaning. Easy to unhook from the bail loop if you want to swap the pendant to a different chain. José Lux hand-finishes every lobster claw clasp at the Vietnam workshop and tests it before the necklace ships.

How does the rhodium plating work and how long does it last?

The rhodium plated white gold finish is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop — not machine-dipped. Hand application gives even coverage across the stone channels, the rail edges, the bail, and the box chain links. Rhodium is harder than gold and acts as a barrier between the silver and the air, keeping the piece bright white through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years. Many customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years before the first re-plate. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit.

What happens if a stone comes loose?

Swiss CZ re-setting is always free at José Lux. We import at volume — the cost of a replacement stone is absorbed by the workshop, not passed to you. Stone displacement from normal daily wear in a hand-set channel pendant is rare. If it happens without impact damage, contact the workshop and we handle it. What's not covered: visible rail deformation from a hard impact or drop. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates clearly about what's observed.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.
