The pendant ships with a box chain — 55cm (21.6 in), 925 sterling silver, rhodium plated to match. Box chain sits flat on the neck and carries the pendant weight cleanly without twisting or bunching. The design is two elements: a fully paved weed leaf suspended inside a fully paved circular frame, connected at the base and at the bail. The negative space between the leaf and the ring is what makes the piece — it gives the leaf shape room to read clearly rather than disappearing into a solid pendant face. The Weed Leaf Pendant — Design and Stone Setting

The pendant is built on two separate structural elements joined into one piece: a circular open frame with two rows of Swiss CZ paved around its inner face, and a weed leaf suspended inside the frame, fully paved in Swiss CZ across every lobe and stem. The leaf floats within the circle — connected at the base and at the bail junction — so the negative space around it is open silver, not solid metal.

The circular frame carries a double row of pave CZ around its full circumference. The density is consistent — no thinning at the point where the frame meets the bail or where it connects to the leaf base. The bail above the frame is also stone-set, matching the finish of the pendant body.

The leaf itself is paved across all seven lobes and the central stem. The lobe tips are the hardest area to set consistently — the silver narrows at the tip and there's less material to hold the rail in place. José Lux artisans spend extra time on the tip settings. Cheaper versions of this pendant skip tip coverage or use smaller stones at the tips that don't match the body stones. Ours don't. The stone density runs to the edge of every lobe.

Swiss CZ is Cubic Zirconia manufactured to a consistent optical standard. Clean, white, and bright under all light conditions. In direct light it throws strong white flashes. In indoor light it stays bright and reads consistently across the full stone surface. José Lux uses Swiss CZ specifically because cut consistency matters in pave work — stones that vary in size create uneven surfaces and visible gaps between stones. Tight spec stones don't.

Every stone is hand-set. Each CZ is individually placed and secured before the next one is set. José Lux doesn't machine-press pave settings. Hand-setting takes longer. It also means a misaligned or loose stone gets caught and corrected at the bench — not after you receive the pendant.

The Box Chain

The chain included with this pendant is a box chain — square links connected in a continuous line, producing a smooth, even surface along the full length. The box pattern sits flat on the neck, doesn't twist under pendant weight, and drapes cleanly without the link faces catching on each other.

At 55cm (21.6 in), the chain places the pendant at mid-chest on most men — the standard position for a pendant this size. Long enough to sit clearly below any neckline. Short enough to stay visible above a crew neck when you want it to. The chain and pendant are matched in finish: both rhodium plated white gold, both hand-applied at the José Lux workshop.

The Metal and Plating

The pendant and chain are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The open-frame pendant design requires the circular structure to hold its shape under the weight of the leaf element and the paved stones. The copper content in 925 is what keeps the frame rigid over time. Pure silver at this structure would gradually deform.

Every piece gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. Hand application gives even coverage across the pave surface of both the leaf and the frame, the negative space edges, the bail, and the box chain links — including the fine detail points where machine dipping leaves thin coverage.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. The finish keeps the pendant and chain bright white and mirror-clean through daily wear. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded: eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

The Clasp — Hand-Finished Lobster Claw

The lobster claw clasp on this chain is hand-crafted and hand-finished at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The spring mechanism engages cleanly and holds under the movement of daily wear — including the added pull of a pendant this size. It doesn't rattle. It doesn't open unexpectedly.

Single-hand operation: press the lever, hook the ring, release. Easy to remove when you need to clean the chain or the pendant. The clasp also unhooks cleanly from the bail loop when you want to swap the pendant onto a different chain.

Every clasp is tested at the workshop before the necklace ships. If it doesn't hold to our satisfaction, we adjust it. If it can't be adjusted, it's replaced. You don't receive a necklace with a clasp we're not confident in.

Care

The rhodium plated white gold finish protects the silver surface on both the pendant and chain. Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools, hot tubs), bleach, strong household cleaners, and perfume applied directly to the piece. These accelerate finish wear.

For the pendant: pave stone settings and the open frame structure collect soap residue and skin oils over time, especially in the negative space between the leaf and the frame. A soft brush — a clean toothbrush works — with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap, worked gently across both the leaf surface and the frame ring, then through the open space between them. Rinse thoroughly, air dry fully. Do it monthly and the stones stay bright.

Warranty

José Lux's goal is simple: your pendant and chain should last as long as you want to wear them.

Swiss CZ re-setting: always free. If a stone comes loose from its setting under normal daily wear, José Lux re-sets it at no charge. No conditions. José Lux imports Swiss CZ at volume — the cost of a replacement stone is absorbed by the workshop.

Rhodium re-plating: always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. The finish wears over years of daily wear — that's expected. When it does, we re-plate at no charge.

Clasp: if the lobster claw fails under normal daily wear — no impacts, no bending from force — José Lux repairs or replaces it.

What's not covered: visible physical damage from hard impact — pendant dropped from height, struck against a surface, or with visible frame deformation. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what's observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set the Swiss CZ in this pendant and apply the rhodium plating have been doing this work for years. Every stone is placed individually. Every clasp is tested before the necklace ships.

An open-frame weed leaf pendant looks clean from the outside. Getting there takes real bench time. The leaf lobes have to be paved to the tip — including the narrow tip points where cheaper versions skip stones or use mismatched sizes. The circular frame has to carry consistent stone density across its full circumference, including the junction points where it meets the leaf base and the bail. The bail has to match the pendant body. The rhodium has to cover the inner edges of the open frame where the silver is exposed. José Lux has been doing this long enough to know exactly where shortcuts show — and to not take them.
