The Bar Link — Link by Link

Every bar link is long and slim, and its face carries slanted cuts that catch light when the chain moves. Between the bars, a small oval link joins one bar to the next. Bar, oval, bar, oval, all the way around the neck.

A pattern like this only works if the spacing never drifts. José Lux sets the link size in the design, then forms every link to that spec. We join the links into the chain, fit the clasp, and polish the whole piece in several stages at the bench, to a mirror finish. The Clasp — Fitted by Hand

You handle the clasp every day, so it has to open easily and close securely. This chain uses a lobster clasp, made and fitted by hand at the José Lux workshop. Press the small lever to open the claw, hook the ring, and let go. The spring pulls the claw shut.

It opens and re-fastens as many times as you need, and the claw seats firmly each time. We check every clasp by hand before the chain ships. If a clasp ever fails, the repair is free, for life.

The chain is solid gold — never gold-filled, never gold-plated. It's 10K gold — 41.7% pure gold. Here's the trade-off in plain terms: 10K carries less pure gold than 14K gold — 58.3% pure gold — and more of the harder alloy metals, so it resists everyday scratching better. 14K carries more gold and costs more per gram.
