Handmade Men’s Double Square Halo Ring — 925 Sterling Silver, Rhodium Plated White Gold Finish, GRA Moissanite

We’ve built a lot of halo rings at the José Lux workshop. Most of them use a single frame. This one uses two — a double square halo that steps down from the center stone in two concentric layers, each fully set with round brilliant CZ. It’s one of the more involved builds we run, and it shows.

The center stone is a GRA-certified Green Moissanite, 6.5mm, 1 carat. Around it, the inner square halo runs a full perimeter of round CZ. Around that, a second square halo — slightly larger, same round CZ all the way around. Two complete stone frames, stacked, both set to the same standard. The face of this ring is almost entirely stone from the center out.

The shoulders carry five rows of stone running the full length of both sides: two outer rows of baguette-cut CZ framing three center rows of round CZ. The band is wide and substantial. From any angle — top, side, or on the finger — this ring does not leave much to the imagination. It’s built to be seen.

The Center Stone — Green Moissanite, 6.5mm, 1ct

The center stone is GRA-certified Green Moissanite. Lab-created silicon carbide with a stable fancy green color treatment. Not a colored glass. Not a synthetic emerald. Moissanite — its own material with its own optical properties, and a gemological certificate to document it.

The stone is 6.5mm in diameter, round brilliant cut, 1 carat, 58 facets. The green reads deep and saturated in natural light. Under directional lighting or overhead fixtures, the facets produce the same high-dispersion fire that Moissanite is known for — rainbow color, strong and visible. A 1-carat green center stone inside a double square halo does not sit quietly. That is the point of this build.

Moissanite is not a diamond. We say that clearly because it matters. It has a higher refractive index than diamond, which means more fire — more color dispersion — not less. It is its own stone with its own behavior. If you want diamond, buy diamond. If you want a GRA-documented lab stone with strong optical performance and a green that commands attention, this is the build.

The Double Square Halo — Two Frames, All CZ

Two square frames run concentrically around the center stone. The inner frame is set with round brilliant CZ all the way around — every seat cut to the same depth, every stone sitting at the same level. The outer frame adds a second full perimeter of round CZ, slightly larger in footprint, same stone standard throughout.

The geometry on a double square halo has to be right. Both frames need to be level. The corners need to land square. The transition from inner to outer frame needs to be clean and consistent. A double halo that reads uneven in direct light is a setting problem, and we catch setting problems before the ring leaves our workshop.

The result from the top is a wall of white stone framing the green center — two full rows of CZ stepping outward from the Moissanite. Under any light source, the face of this ring fires across every stone simultaneously. It reads as one continuous, structured surface. That is what two correctly set square halos produce.

The Shoulders — Five Rows, Baguette and Round CZ

The shoulders on this ring carry five rows of CZ running the full length of both sides of the band. The two outer rows are baguette-cut CZ — rectangular stones set in a single channel line on each edge of the shoulder. Between those two outer rows, three center rows of round brilliant CZ fill the remaining shoulder width.

Baguette and round stone rows on the same shoulder produce a different visual texture than either cut alone. The baguette rows on the outside give the shoulder a clean, linear edge. The round rows in the center catch light at more angles. The combination is intentional: a shoulder that reads structured from the side and active from the top.

The shoulder stone coverage runs from the halo base to the shank on both sides. There is no bare metal strip between the head and the band. The transition from face to shoulder to shank is all stone.

The Metal — 925 Sterling Silver

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. On a build this wide, with a double halo, five shoulder rows, and a full baguette edge, the metal has to hold its geometry across the entire face. Sterling silver at this alloy ratio does that.

The blank we use on this build is properly gauged for the width and stone load. A double halo with full shoulder coverage on a lightweight blank will flex. This one does not. The mass is deliberate — it is what keeps a build like this intact under daily wear.

The Finish — Rhodium Plated White Gold

Every ring leaves our Vietnam workshop with a Rhodium Plated White Gold Finish applied by hand. Not machine-dipped. Hand-plated at the workshop and checked by the same artisans who set the stones. Even coverage across the halo frames, the baguette rows, the round shoulder stones, and the prong tips — the points where machine-dipping leaves thin spots.

Rhodium is harder than the silver underneath. It sits between the silver and the air. Conservative baseline: three years of daily wear before any fading is noticeable. A number of our customers come back to re-plate after five years. Some have reported eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

Warranty & Repairs

Every prong on a José Lux ring is adjusted by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare — that is a result of how the prongs are set, not luck.

If a CZ stone in the halo or shoulder comes loose under everyday wear — no drops, no impacts, just daily use — we reset it at no charge. No conditions. We import our Swiss-certified CZ in verified bulk lots. Resetting costs us bench time, not materials.

If the Green Moissanite center stone requires replacement, the charge is our Hong Kong supplier’s wholesale cost only — never retail. Re-setting labor is always free.

Rhodium re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit, no conditions.

What is not covered: stone loss from visible impact damage — a dropped ring, a bent band, a prong seat cracked from a hard blow. José Lux inspects every case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we fix it at cost with a clear quote before anything is done.

Our workshop is in Vietnam. Setting a double square halo correctly — both frames level, corners square, all stones at consistent depth — takes more bench time than a single halo. Adding five rows of shoulder stone to that means there is almost no margin for error across the full width of the band. Our artisans have set hundreds of builds in this range. They know where the geometry fails when the work is rushed. We do not rush it.

Every prong on every José Lux ring is adjusted by hand. Every halo frame is checked before the ring moves to plating. Every band leaves the workshop with a visual quality check by the artisan who finished it. Some of the team have over 30 years of bench experience. That is the standard this ring is built to.
