The Moissanite Setting — Row by Row

Two rows of round Moissanite stones follow the curve of the hoop. Each row sits in a recessed gold channel, and small gold beads between the stones hold them in place.

That’s pavé setting: stones set close together and held by tiny beads of gold instead of a bezel or prongs. A raised gold rail frames each row, and a plain gold section covers the hinge, so the stones stop where the hinge begins.

A huggie sits close against the lobe instead of hanging below it. At work, at the gym, on a night out, the hoop stays where you put it, and the latch keeps it closed until you open it.

The Hinge and Latch

A huggie is a small hoop that hugs the earlobe, and this one closes on a gold hinge. Open the hinge to clean the stones and the inside of the hoop, then close the latch again.

The hinge is the one moving part, so it’s also the part that needs care. Rinse lotion and skin oils out of it now and then so they don’t build up.

The Gold and Karat Options

The whole hoop is solid gold — never gold-filled, never gold-plated. José Lux offers it in 10K gold (41.7% pure gold) and 14K gold (58.3% pure gold).

10K carries less pure gold and more of the harder alloy metals, so it resists everyday scratching a little better. That matters on an earring you wear at work and at the gym. 14K carries more pure gold, which gives Yellow Gold a deeper, warmer tone, with slightly softer metal.

Neither is the “better” metal. They’re two different trade-offs, and José Lux sells both.

Metal weight is 1.50 g [per earring] in 10K gold and 1.69 g [per earring] in 14K gold. The 14K version weighs more because 14K gold is denser.

Every karat comes in Yellow Gold, White Gold or Rose Gold. The color isn’t a coating. It comes from the alloy formula — the ratio of copper, silver, zinc or palladium mixed into the gold during alloying.

José Lux’s White Gold alloy uses copper, silver, zinc or palladium — not nickel. Rose Gold gets its warmer tone from copper in the mix.

Pick Yellow Gold to match the chain you already wear. Pick White Gold to match a steel or silver ring. Pick Rose Gold to match a watch or ring with the same warm tone.

How We Make Them

Every José Lux gold earring goes through four stages before it ships: alloying, casting, hand finishing and quality control. We alloy 24K gold down to 10K or 14K by hand, in the exact ratio for the karat and color ordered. The huggie is cast from a 3D CAD design using lost-wax casting.

Then the stone-setting starts, and two rows around a curve leave no room for error. Every stone seat has to match its neighbor, and every bead has to sit evenly. We set each Moissanite stone by hand, check how the hinge opens and closes, then polish the earring to a mirror finish.

Before it leaves Hồ Chí Minh City, we test the karat with an XRF machine, check the nickel content and stamp the legal karat hallmark. The same workshop team packs your order.

Certification

Every stone in the hoop is Moissanite — GRA Certified, Color D-FL (colorless, internally flawless), Mohs 9.25.

Moissanite isn’t a diamond, and José Lux won’t tell you it is. It’s lab-created silicon carbide with its own optical signature. The GRA report is a Moissanite report, not a diamond-grading report.

No stone plays the accent role here, and there’s no CZ. The stones are hand-selected at the bench so both rows read consistent, not patchy.

Care

The hinge opens, so you can clean the stones and the inside of the hoop whenever you need to. Wipe the stones and the hinge with the jewelry cleaning cloth that ships with every order.

Pavé rows collect skin oils and lotion between the beads, so wipe along both rows now and then.

Warranty and Repairs

Every José Lux gold earring carries a lifetime warranty. Repairs are free — for life, no expiration date. Each stone is checked and adjusted by hand before an earring ships, which is why a stone coming loose under normal daily wear is rare.

If a Moissanite stone does come loose under everyday use, José Lux resets it for free. That covers every stone in both rows.

Is every stone Moissanite, or is some of it CZ?

Every stone in the hoop is Moissanite. That’s different from José Lux earrings that pair Moissanite with Swiss CZ accents. Here, there’s no CZ anywhere.

All of it is GRA Certified Moissanite, hand-selected at the bench.

What is a huggie earring?
