The Stones — Moissanite Center, Full Moissanite Double Halo

The center stone is Moissanite — 4mm round brilliant, 0.3 carat equivalent weight. Lab-created silicon carbide. Not diamond. The optical character is its own: more fire than diamond, which means stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. At 4mm the stone is confident without being oversized — it reads clearly on the ear, catches light at distance, and works under a collar or with a chain.

Center stone grade: Color D, Clarity FL. Colorless and internally flawless. This is the top grading tier for both color and clarity. The stone will not appear warm or show internal inclusions. Under any light it reads clean and white with strong directional fire.

The halo is two concentric rings of Moissanite — round brilliant stones set edge to edge in a micro-pavé configuration that runs the full circumference of the disc. Every stone in this earring is the same material: lab-created silicon carbide, more fire than diamond. In direct light, the double halo throws full ring flash around the center stone. In softer light, the entire disc reads as a dense, continuous Moissanite surface.

Every stone — center and halo — is Moissanite, hand-set at our Vietnam workshop. Each stone is individually seated, checked for level and setting security, then inspected as part of the complete disc under magnification before the earring ships.

The Disc Mount

The disc is a round platform setting — the center stone sits inside a bezel mount, a continuous silver rim that runs the full circumference of the stone and is pressed inward by hand to lock it in place. The halo stones are set flat into the disc surface in two concentric rows around it. The profile is low. The disc sits close to the earlobe without standing proud. That low profile is a design choice: it keeps the earring stable during movement and makes it read as intentional rather than oversized.

The rear face of the disc is smooth, flat silver. No stone settings or prong edges on the back face. The post connects to the center rear of the disc and extends straight back. In the images you can see the rear face and the post geometry clearly. What you see is how it sits against the ear.

The bezel rim holding the Moissanite center is hand-finished at our Vietnam workshop — the silver edge is pressed and smoothed around the stone by hand, seat by seat, until the stone is locked with no play. It is then checked under magnification. A correctly set bezel does not allow movement. The Moissanite halo stones are individually seated in their micro-pavé cuts and checked the same way. Stone loss under normal daily stud wear is extremely rare. That’s the result of the setting work, not a warranty promise.

The Post and Screw-Back Closure

The post and screw-back system are fully 925 sterling silver. Solid silver — not a plated brass post, not an alloy stem with a silver coating. The metal touching your ear is the same material as the disc.

The post is threaded. The screw-back nut winds onto the thread and locks in place — it does not rely on friction the way a push-back does. Once tightened, it does not loosen during movement, exercise, or sleep. For a stud worn daily through an active life, threading is what keeps it in your ear.

The closure is fully removable. Unscrew the nut completely whenever you need to clean the post or the rear face of the disc. The threading handles repeated full disassembly without degrading. Clean the post, clean the disc rear, reassemble. The system is built to do this every time you need it.

The Metal and Plating

The disc, prongs, post, and screw-back nut are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. Every earring receives a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The artisans doing this work have been plating silver for years. Hand application gives more even coverage at the detail transitions: around each halo stone, at the prong tips, at the post-to-disc joint.

Rhodium is harder than silver and sits as a barrier between the metal and the air. It keeps the surface bright white and resists tarnish. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

A full-Moissanite halo stud looks clean from the front. Getting every halo stone level, the spacing consistent across two full rings, and the Moissanite center locked tight in its bezel at the hub — that’s bench work. Precise, repetitive, and checked every single time. We’ve done enough of these to know exactly where cheaper versions fail: uneven halo spacing, loose stones after two weeks, center stone that rocks in its seat. Ours don’t, because the work is done right from the start.
