José Lux has been setting Moissanite stones for over a decade. A cluster stud is a different design logic from a solitaire or a halo. There is no single center stone. The entire face of the disc is stone — multiple rows of round brilliant Moissanite set edge to edge across a domed circular surface. Nothing is the center. Everything is the face. When it sits on the ear, the earring reads as a single dense disc of light.

This is sold as one earring. Most men wear a single stud. The price is for one piece. If you want two, order two.
The Stone Work — Full Moissanite Cluster, Multi-Row, Domed
The disc face is fully covered in round brilliant Moissanite. Multiple rows of stones run from the center outward to the rim, set in a continuous micro-pavé layout with no gaps and no plain silver visible on the front surface. The disc is slightly domed — it curves outward from center to edge. That curvature means the stones on the outer rows sit at a different angle from the center stones, which increases the number of directions from which the cluster catches light simultaneously.

Every stone is Moissanite — lab-created silicon carbide. Not diamond. More fire than diamond, which means stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. On a full-coverage cluster disc, that fire is not one point of light from a single stone. It is the whole face firing at once. In direct sunlight, the disc throws multi-point simultaneous flash across every row. In indoor light it reads as a dense, bright, continuous white surface.
Moissanite does not degrade optically over time. The stones on this disc look the same in ten years as on day one. That is a property of the material.
Micro-pavé on a domed surface is more technically demanding than flat-disc setting. Each stone has to be seated level relative to its immediate neighbors on a curved plane, not a flat one. The rows near the center and the rows at the edge sit at different angles. Every prong bead between adjacent stones has to be sized and positioned for a surface that changes angle across the disc. Our bench artisans in Vietnam have been doing this specific work for years. Each stone is individually seated and checked. The completed disc is inspected as a whole under magnification before the earring ships.
The Disc Mount and Rim
The disc has a raised rim around the perimeter — a silver edge that frames the cluster and gives the disc its defined circular silhouette. The rim holds the outer-row stones at their correct angle and provides structural integrity to the setting. From the front, the rim is partly obscured by the outer edge stones. From the side, it is visible as a clean silver border.

The profile of the disc from the side shows the dome height clearly. The center of the face sits higher than the rim. That height is intentional: it increases the light-entry angle for the center stones and makes the cluster read as a three-dimensional object on the ear rather than a flat disc.
The rear face of the disc is plain polished silver. No stone settings or prong edges on the back face. The post connects at the center rear. The rear face sits flat against the earlobe.
The Post and Butterfly Push-Back Closure
The post and butterfly closure are fully 925 sterling silver. Solid silver at every contact point — not a plated brass post, not an alloy stem with a silver coating. The metal touching your ear is the same material as the earring disc.

The butterfly closure is hand-formed and tensioned at our Vietnam workshop. The two wings are individually shaped to grip the post at the correct resistance: firm enough to hold through movement, exercise, and sleep, releasing cleanly when you pinch both wings and pull straight back off the post. The threading handles repeated daily removal and reattachment without degrading. This closure is built for daily use over years, not occasional wear.
The closure is fully removable. Take it off completely whenever you need to clean the post or the rear face of the disc. Unclip, clean, reattach. The butterfly mechanism handles that repeatedly without wearing out or losing grip tension. This is the closure we use on our stud earrings because it combines holding security with a system that performs correctly under real daily use conditions.
The Metal and Plating
The disc, rim, prongs, and post are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. Every earring receives a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Hand application matters on a domed cluster disc: the curved surface and the individual prong beads between each stone are the points where machine dipping leaves thin spots. Our artisans plate by hand to ensure even coverage across the full dome and around every bead prong.
Rhodium is harder than silver and acts as a barrier between the metal and the air. It keeps the surface bright white and resists tarnish. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.
Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
Warranty and Repairs
Every stone on this disc is hand-seated and individually inspected before the earring ships. Stone loss from normal daily stud wear is extremely rare when the setting work is done correctly. That is the standard we hold on every piece.
If a stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:
- Moissanite cluster stones: Re-setting labor is always free. If a stone needs replacement, charged at our Hong Kong import cost only — never at retail.
- Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
What’s not covered: stones lost or prongs bent from hard physical impact — visible deformation consistent with a drop or strike. José Lux inspects every case individually and tells you honestly what we see. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
Shipping
Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can’t control.
Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you’re covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earring in perfect condition or you get your money back.
Your earring ships in two layers: the inner box holds the piece securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. Setting a full Moissanite cluster on a domed disc is one of the more technically demanding stud configurations we make. The dome means no two adjacent stones sit on exactly the same plane. Every seat has to be cut for the correct angle at that point on the curve. Every prong bead has to account for the geometry of its neighbors. Our bench artisans have been doing this specific work for years. Each stone is individually seated. Each disc is inspected as a whole under magnification before it ships.
A full-cluster domed stud looks solid from the front. Getting every stone flush, the prong beads consistent across the dome, and the disc rim holding cleanly at the perimeter — that’s bench work. Done correctly on every piece. We’ve done enough of these to know exactly where cheaper versions fail: stones proud on the outer rows because the dome angle wasn’t accounted for in the seat cut, prong beads that aren’t flush, a rim that sits uneven. Ours don’t, because the setting work is done right from the start.
Your Earring Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box, USPS Insured

Your earring ships in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds the piece securely in position. The outer box takes the transit damage so the inner box doesn't have to. Before it goes into the box, the earring itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer — no movement, no contact, nothing shifts from our workshop to your door.
Shipping is via USPS with 100% insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — we cover it in full. If an incorrect address was entered at checkout, José Lux refunds you completely. You either receive your earring in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That is the José Lux standard.
FAQ
This is listed as one earring. Can I order two?
Yes. Add two to your cart. We list it as one piece because that’s how most men wear it — one ear. We don’t force a pair purchase when you want a single.
What is a cluster stud? How is it different from a halo stud?
A halo stud has a single center stone with a ring of smaller stones around it. The center stone is the focal point. A cluster stud has no single center stone — the entire face of the disc is covered in stones of similar size, set edge to edge across the full surface. There is no hierarchy. The whole face fires. On the ear, a cluster stud reads as a single disc of light rather than a stone with a frame around it.
What is Moissanite? Is it a diamond?
No. Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide — a different material with its own optical properties. It has more fire than diamond, meaning stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. It is not a diamond. We won’t tell you it is. On a full-coverage cluster disc, the Moissanite fires across the entire face simultaneously. That’s the optical character of the material working across multiple stones at once.
Does Moissanite degrade over time?
No. Moissanite is silicon carbide — a stable material that does not degrade optically. The stones on this disc look the same in ten years as on day one. Material property, not a warranty claim.
How does micro-pavé work on a domed surface?
Each stone is individually hand-set into a seat cut directly into the silver disc. Tiny beaded prongs between adjacent stones lock them in place. On a domed surface, each stone’s seat has to be cut at the correct angle for that specific point on the curve — not just level in the flat sense, but level relative to the dome geometry at that position. Our bench artisans in Vietnam set domed cluster discs regularly. Every stone is checked individually under magnification, then the disc is inspected as a whole before the earring ships.
How does the butterfly closure work?
The post is threaded. The butterfly backing has two spring wings that grip the post. Push the backing onto the post — the wings grip the thread and hold. To remove, pinch both wings simultaneously and pull straight back. The grip holds through movement, exercise, and sleep. Releases cleanly with deliberate pinch pressure. Wings are hand-formed at our workshop. The mechanism handles daily removal and reattachment without wearing out or losing grip tension over time.
Can I clean the cluster disc properly?
Yes. Remove the butterfly backing completely. Clean the disc face with a soft brush — a clean toothbrush works — and mild soapy water. Work the bristles between stone rows and around the rim. Rinse thoroughly. Dry fully before reattaching. The disc face is open to the brush — the stones are in an open pavé setting, not enclosed. The butterfly closure lets you remove the earring entirely for a proper clean each time. A polishing cloth ships with every order.
How long does the rhodium plating last?
Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear. Many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at our workshop — no time limit, no conditions. Whenever it’s needed, we handle it.
What does the warranty cover?
Moissanite re-setting labor is always free. Replacement stones at Hong Kong import cost only — never retail. Rhodium re-plating always free. What’s not covered: visible deformation from a drop or hard impact. José Lux inspects every case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
How does shipping work?
Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — we state that honestly. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.
