José Lux has been setting Moissanite earrings for over a decade. The Star Flower Lever Back is one of the more demanding designs we produce — a round brilliant Moissanite center stone set in a tight prong mount, surrounded by a ring of mixed-cut Swiss CZ petals arranged in a star formation, all seated above a double-row micro-pavé band running down the base. The result is what you see in the images: a star-shaped flower face that covers real surface area on the ear, with stone coverage that continues from the top of the star all the way down the pavé base.
Look at the images closely. The star silhouette comes from the petal arrangement — alternating larger pear-cut CZ and smaller round CZ stones radiating outward from the center Moissanite, creating six or more points that extend beyond a standard round halo. The pavé band beneath is two rows deep, stone-set on all visible faces. The lever back closure is visible in the side-profile image: a hinged omega-style lever, built from sterling silver at our Vietnam workshop, that opens fully for cleaning and closes with a firm lock.
This earring is not small. The star formation and the continuous pavé band together make it one of the larger-face designs in the José Lux line. It's built for a woman who wants her earrings noticed. The stone coverage and the scale are the point.
The Center Stone — GRA Moissanite, Round Brilliant
The center stone is GRA-certified Moissanite — Color D, Clarity FL. Colorless and internally flawless. Round brilliant cut, 58 facets. Each stone ships with its own GRA certificate carrying a unique report ID traceable to your specific stone. Physical certificate. Not a card.

Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide. It is not a diamond and we won't tell you it is. What it has is more fire than diamond — meaning stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. In a star flower setting where the center stone is elevated above a ring of surrounding CZ petals, that fire reads clearly from every angle. The Moissanite catches and throws color. The CZ petals around it hold steady, clean brightness. The contrast between the two is what gives this design its visual depth. One stone doing one job. The surrounding stones doing theirs.
In direct sunlight, the center throws strong rainbow flashes. In indoor light, it reads bright white and clearly distinct from the CZ work around it. The multi-prong mount keeps it elevated — not sunk into the star face, but sitting above it with clearance on all sides to catch light from every direction.
The Swiss CZ Star Petals and Pavé Band
Every stone surrounding the center Moissanite is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. That covers the full star petal formation around the flower head, and the double-row micro-pavé band running down the base of each earring.
The star formation is what separates this design from a standard round halo. Looking at the images, you can see the petal arrangement: larger stones — pear-cut or marquise-cut CZ — alternate with smaller round CZ to create the pointed star silhouette. Each larger petal stone carries a prong mount that projects outward, giving the earring its angular, star-shaped outline. Each smaller round between the larger petals fills the space and reinforces the radial pattern. The result is a star with six or more clear points, not a circle.
The pavé band is two rows of round Swiss CZ, hand-set into the silver base that runs beneath the flower head. Both rows are visible in the images — the band is wide enough to read as its own design element, not just a mount. On the ear, the band covers the lower portion of the lobe while the star face sits above it. Together they span the full vertical length of the earring.
Swiss CZ is not Moissanite. José Lux states this clearly. CZ doesn't have the same fire. What it does have — when sourced from Switzerland and set correctly — is clean, consistent brightness. José Lux selects Swiss CZ that color-matches the D-grade Moissanite center. At normal wearing distance, the transition between the center stone and the surrounding star reads as one cohesive piece. Up close, the Moissanite fires distinctly. That's the correct behavior for this design.
The Lever Back Closure — Hinged Sterling Silver
The lever back is a hinged omega-style closure built entirely from 925 sterling silver. No plated brass. No base metal. Every component — the hinge point, the lever arm, the omega loop, the post — is silver, fabricated and assembled by hand at our José Lux workshop in Vietnam.

The mechanics are straightforward: press the tab at the base of the lever arm, the omega loop opens. The post goes through the ear piercing. The lever arm swings back and closes the loop around the post — firm click, locked position. Closed, the earring has no lateral movement. For a design with the stone weight and face size of the Star Flower, that lock is not optional. A friction push-back post on an earring this size would loosen during wear. The lever back doesn't.
The closure detaches fully from the earring body at a fitted joint between the lever mechanism and the flower base. This is deliberate. A center Moissanite in a multi-prong mount, surrounded by individually-set star petal stones and a double-row pavé band, accumulates residue in the settings with daily wear. Being able to fully separate the lever back means you can clean the earring face properly — get a soft brush into every prong seat and every pavé groove — without working around an obstruction. Reattachment is secure. The joint holds the same way every time.
The Metal and Plating
The full earring body — the star frame, every prong mount, the pavé band, and the lever back assembly — is 925 sterling silver. 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. A star petal design with multiple projecting prong mounts requires silver that holds its shape under the lateral stress of daily wear. The prong walls on the larger petal stones have to maintain tension without flexing. José Lux uses properly gauged silver blanks on this design. That's the difference between settings that hold and settings that don't.
Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. The artisans doing this work have been plating silver for years. Hand application matters on a design this geometrically complex — the individual star petal prong tips, the curved edges between the petal mounts, the inside corners where the flower meets the pavé band, the hinge joint on the lever back. Machine dipping covers flat surfaces and misses the detail geometry. Hand application reaches everything.
Rhodium is harder than gold and creates a barrier between the silver and the air. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. Some have gone eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect how long it holds. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit, no conditions.
Certification

Every pair ships with the full GRA gemological certificate for the Moissanite center stone — one certificate per earring, two certificates per pair. Each report confirms Color D, Clarity FL, Round Brilliant cut, and carries a unique report number traceable to your specific stone. Physical certificate. Not a card. The same certificate format used in professional gemological documentation. Each stone ID is unique and independently verifiable.

Warranty and Repairs
Every prong on a José Lux earring is hand-adjusted for tension before the piece ships. Stone loss from normal daily earring wear is extremely rare. That's by design, not luck.
If a stone does come loose under everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:
- Swiss CZ star petal and pavé band stones: Re-setting or replacing accent stones is always free. José Lux imports CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely.
- Moissanite center stone: Re-setting labor is always free. If the stone needs replacement, charged at our Hong Kong import cost — never at retail.
- Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible prong deformation consistent with a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what's observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.
Shipping
Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control.
Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition or you get your money back.
Your earrings ship in two layers: the inner box holds the earrings securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. Inside every order: the GRA certificates, a silver polishing cloth, and a José Lux workshop warranty card.

Our Workshop
Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set your Moissanite center stone, individually position each Swiss CZ star petal, lay the double-row pavé band, fabricate and attach the lever back closure from sterling silver, and hand-plate every surface have been doing this work for years.
A star flower design with projecting petal mounts is harder to execute consistently than a round halo. Each large petal stone has to sit at the right angle and projection depth to form a clean star point. Each small round between the petals has to fill the space without gaps. Both earrings have to match. The double-row pavé band has to transition cleanly into the flower base. The lever back has to close flush and detach cleanly. None of this is machine work. Every setting is done by hand, checked by hand, and tested before it ships. We've done this design enough times to know exactly where it fails when the bench work is rushed. We don't rush it.

Your Earrings Arrive Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your earrings ship in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds each earring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the earrings themselves are wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before they go into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.
Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.
FAQ
What makes this a 'star flower' design — how is it different from a standard round halo?
A standard round halo places same-size round stones in a uniform circle around a center stone. The silhouette is round. The Star Flower uses alternating stone cuts — larger pear or marquise CZ petals between smaller round CZ — arranged so the larger stones project outward beyond the circle. That projection creates visible points: the star shape. The silhouette has defined angles rather than a smooth curve. It reads differently on the ear than a round halo — more graphic, more distinct at distance. The star formation is structural, not decorative. Each large petal stone has its own prong mount that holds it at the correct projection angle. Getting that alignment consistent across six or more points, on both earrings, is the bench work that makes the star read as a star.
What is the lever back and why is it built from silver?
The lever back is a hinged omega-style closure. The lever arm opens by pressing a tab at the base, the post passes through the piercing, and the lever closes and locks the omega loop around the post. Firm click. No movement when closed. The reason it's built from 925 sterling silver rather than plated brass: brass corrodes. A plated brass post sits against the ear for hours at a time. When the plating wears, the brass underneath reacts with skin moisture. José Lux doesn't use base metal components in the closure. The post, the lever arm, the hinge, the omega loop — all silver, all built to the same standard as the earring body. The lever back also detaches fully from the flower mount for cleaning. That's not common. We built it that way because a dense stone setting needs to be cleanable without compromise.
How many stones are in each earring?
Each earring has one GRA-certified Moissanite center stone and a full star petal formation of Swiss CZ — the exact count depends on the specific size configuration, but the star uses alternating large pear/marquise CZ and smaller round CZ for each point of the star, plus a double-row micro-pavé band running down the base. The center Moissanite is the only certified stone. The CZ petals and band stones are Swiss CZ. All of this is stated clearly in the specifications because José Lux wants you to know exactly what you're buying.
How does this earring look on the ear?
Large and stone-dense. The star face extends beyond a standard stud or round halo — the pointed petal formation adds visible width to the silhouette. The pavé band runs from the base of the flower down toward the lobe, extending the earring's vertical presence. In direct light, the center Moissanite fires rainbow color independently from the surrounding CZ. The CZ star petals read bright white. The rhodium plated white gold finish sits mirror-bright across everything. When the head moves, the Moissanite catches light at different angles than the CZ — the center is always the focal point, always distinct. This earring is not subtle. The star profile and continuous stone coverage make it a statement piece by design.
How long does the rhodium plating last?
Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest recorded at our workshop before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure — perfume, chlorine, cleaning products — all affect the timeline. When the time comes, re-plating is always free at José Lux. Ship it back to us. We re-plate it and ship it back. No conditions, no time limit.
What does the warranty cover?
Prong settings on José Lux earrings are built to hold — stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare. If it happens with no evidence of impact damage: Swiss CZ star petal and band stones are re-set for free, no exceptions. Moissanite re-setting labor is always free; replacement stone is charged at our Hong Kong import cost only, never at retail. Re-plating is always free, no time limit. What's not covered: visible prong deformation from a drop or hard impact. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
How does shipping work?
Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux is honest about that rather than promising a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.
Where are these earrings made?
Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who set the center Moissanite, hand-set each CZ star petal at the correct projection angle, lay the double-row pavé band, build the lever back from silver, and hand-plate every surface have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online. A star petal setting with multiple projecting prong mounts requires more bench time and more precision than a round halo. Getting six or more pointed stones to read as a clean star on both earrings consistently — that's the work. This is José Lux's own workshop, not a third-party factory.
