José Lux builds the Moissanite Sunburst Cluster Ring in 10K gold (41.7% pure gold) and 14K gold (58.3% pure gold), in Yellow, White, or Rose Gold. The gold weight is 1.27 g in 10K gold and 1.43 g in 14K gold. Every stone on this ring is Moissanite, GRA Certified at the center — there’s no Swiss CZ anywhere on the ring. A dense cluster of seven round Moissanite stones sits at the middle, framed by a raised, fluted ring of gold — twisted and ribbed, with no stones set into it. Outside that ribbed frame, individual Moissanite stones stand on their own prongs, spaced evenly around the circle like sun rays. It’s a three-layer construction: a stone cluster, a bare textured halo, and a ring of individual points — different from anything else in our cluster line.

The ribbed halo between the center cluster and the outer ray stones is cut and fluted by hand, so the texture catches light differently than the polished stones on either side of it. Spacing the individual ray stones evenly around that circle, each one standing alone on its own prong rather than packed next to a neighbor, takes more layout precision than a solid pavé ring — an uneven gap between two rays is far more visible than one buried in a dense cluster. We’ve been alloying gold and setting Moissanite at the same bench in Hồ Chí Minh City for years. Getting three distinct layers — cluster, texture, and points — to sit centered on each other is one of the more demanding setups we build.

The Moissanite Setting — A Cluster, a Halo, and a Ring of Points

The center stone, at the middle of the seven-stone cluster, is GRA Certified Moissanite — Color D-FL, colorless and internally flawless, Mohs 9.25. It ships with its own GRA report, carrying a unique laser-inscribed ID traceable to that specific stone. Moissanite isn’t a diamond, and José Lux won’t tell you it is. It’s lab-created silicon carbide with its own optical signature — more fire than diamond, which means more rainbow flash under direct light.

Every other stone on the ring — the six surrounding the center, and every individual ray stone set around the outer circle — is the same material, cut and matched to the center stone for color and brilliance. José Lux hand-selects each one at the bench so the cluster and the ray points read as one consistent family of stones. What they don’t carry is an individual GRA report — grading every melee-sized stone across a dense cluster and a full ring of individual points isn’t practical at this price point, and we’d rather say that plainly than let you assume otherwise. The center stone is the one with the paperwork. Every other stone on the ring is the same certified-grade Moissanite, hand-set, without individual certificates.

The fluted halo between the cluster and the ray stones carries no stones of its own — it’s textured gold, doing visual and structural work without adding sparkle. That’s the layer that gives this setting its depth: dense center, quiet ribbed ring, then individual points catching light on their own.

The Gold and Karat Options

The band is solid gold — never gold-filled, never gold-plated. José Lux offers the Sunburst Cluster Ring in 10K gold (41.7% pure gold) and 14K gold (58.3% pure gold). 10K carries less pure gold and more of the harder alloy metals, so it resists everyday scratching a little better. 14K carries more pure gold, which reads deeper and warmer, especially in Yellow Gold. Neither is the “better” metal — they’re two different tradeoffs, and José Lux sells both instead of steering you toward one.

Every karat comes in Yellow, White, or Rose Gold. The color isn’t a coating — it comes from the alloy formula, the ratio of copper, silver, zinc, or palladium mixed into the gold during alloying. José Lux’s White Gold is nickel-free; the white tone comes from silver, zinc, or palladium in the mix, not nickel, which matters if you’re sensitive to it.

Every ring goes through four stages at the José Lux workshop before it ships. We alloy 24K gold down to 10K or 14K by hand, in the exact ratio for the karat and color ordered. The band and the fluted halo are cast from a 3D CAD design using lost-wax casting, then hand-set with the Moissanite stones layer by layer, and polished to finish. Before it leaves Hồ Chí Minh City, we test the karat with an XRF machine, check for nickel, and stamp the legal karat hallmark.

Certification

The center stone ships with a full GRA gemological report — Color D-FL, Mohs 9.25, and a unique report number traceable to that stone. It’s a Moissanite report, not a diamond grading report, and José Lux states that plainly rather than let the paperwork imply something it isn’t.

Warranty and Repairs

Every José Lux gold ring carries a lifetime warranty. Repairs are free — for life, no expiration date. Every prong across the center cluster and every individual ray stone is checked and adjusted by hand before the ring ships, which is why a stone coming loose from normal daily wear is rare.

If a Moissanite stone does come loose under everyday use — no drops, no impact — José Lux resets it for free, center cluster or ray stone. What’s not covered: stone loss from a hard impact, a drop, or a strike against a hard surface. That’s not treated as a manufacturing defect. Each ray stone stands alone on its own prong rather than braced by neighboring stones, so it’s more exposed to a direct knock than a stone set inside the dense center cluster — worth knowing if you wear rings while working with your hands. José Lux reviews every case individually before deciding next steps, and if a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it at cost, with a quote before anything is done.

Three layers built on top of each other leave no room for error at the center: if the cluster sits even a little off-axis, the ribbed halo and the ray stones around it read crooked too. We’ve done it enough times to know where it goes wrong, and where it holds.

Every stone on the Moissanite Sunburst Cluster Ring is Moissanite — the center cluster and every ray point. That’s different from José Lux’s channel and pavé settings on other lines, which pair a Moissanite center with Swiss CZ (Cubic Zirconia) accents. Here, there’s no CZ anywhere on the ring — and the fluted halo between the cluster and the ray stones carries no stones at all, CZ or Moissanite. The center stone carries its own GRA certificate; every other stone is the same material, hand-matched, without individual reports.

What’s the difference between 10K and 14K gold?
