Handmade Moissanite Swirl Ring — 10K & 14K Gold, GRA Certified Moissanite

José Lux builds the Moissanite Swirl Ring in 10K gold (41.7% pure gold) and 14K gold (58.3% pure gold), in Yellow, White, or Rose Gold. The gold weight is 1.46 g in 10K gold and 1.64 g in 14K gold. Every stone on this ring is Moissanite — there’s no Swiss CZ anywhere on the band. Instead of one solitaire stone, three open gold swirls curl off the band and layer over each other at different heights. Where each swirl opens, a small cluster of round Moissanite stones sits prong-set into the curve. It’s a different structure than our Flower Cluster ring, which builds one symmetrical flower around a single center stone. The Swirl Ring is asymmetric on purpose — three loops, three stone clusters, no single point the eye lands on first.

Forming three open loops that sit level with each other, without one swirl crowding the next, takes more bench time than a single prong-set band. Each loop is shaped first, then the stone cluster at its mouth is prong-set by hand, stone by stone, so the wirework stays open and light can move through the loops instead of around a solid setting. We’ve been alloying gold and setting Moissanite at the same bench in Hồ Chí Minh City for years. The Swirl is one of the more time-consuming settings we build, because open wirework has less metal to hide an uneven prong in.

The Moissanite Clusters — Three Swirls, One Setting

The largest of the three stone clusters is built around a GRA Certified Moissanite stone — Color D-FL, colorless and internally flawless, Mohs 9.25. It ships with its own GRA report, carrying a unique laser-inscribed ID traceable to that specific stone. Moissanite isn’t a diamond, and José Lux won’t tell you it is. It’s lab-created silicon carbide with its own optical signature — more fire than diamond, which means more rainbow flash under direct light.

The stones filling the other two swirl clusters are the same material, cut and matched to the certified stone for color and brilliance. José Lux hand-selects every stone at the bench so all three clusters read as one family of stones, not mismatched leftovers. What they don’t carry is an individual GRA report — grading each melee-sized stone across three separate clusters isn’t practical at this price point, and we’d rather say that plainly than let you assume otherwise. One stone in the design carries the paperwork. Every stone in the design is the same certified-grade Moissanite.

Because the stones are split across three loops instead of one center point, the sparkle moves as your hand moves — one cluster catches the light, then another, instead of one fixed point of fire.

The Gold and Karat Options

The band is solid gold — never gold-filled, never gold-plated. José Lux offers the Swirl Ring in 10K gold (41.7% pure gold) and 14K gold (58.3% pure gold). 10K carries less pure gold and more of the harder alloy metals, so it resists everyday scratching a little better — worth knowing on an open wirework design like this one, where the metal at the loops is thinner than on a solid band. 14K carries more pure gold, which reads deeper and warmer, especially in Yellow Gold. Neither is the “better” metal — they’re two different tradeoffs, and José Lux sells both instead of steering you toward one.

Every karat comes in Yellow, White, or Rose Gold. The color isn’t a coating — it comes from the alloy formula, the ratio of copper, silver, zinc, or palladium mixed into the gold during alloying. José Lux’s White Gold is nickel-free; the white tone comes from silver, zinc, or palladium in the mix, not nickel, which matters if you’re sensitive to it.

Every ring goes through four stages at the José Lux workshop before it ships. We alloy 24K gold down to 10K or 14K by hand, in the exact ratio for the karat and color ordered. The swirls are cast from a 3D CAD design using lost-wax casting, then hand-set with their Moissanite clusters stone by stone, and polished to finish. Before it leaves Hồ Chí Minh City, we test the karat with an XRF machine, check for nickel, and stamp the legal karat hallmark.

The largest stone cluster ships with a full GRA gemological report for its center stone — Color D-FL, Mohs 9.25, and a unique report number traceable to that stone. It’s a Moissanite report, not a diamond grading report, and José Lux states that plainly rather than let the paperwork imply something it isn’t.

Warranty and Repairs

Every José Lux gold ring carries a lifetime warranty. Repairs are free — for life, no expiration date. Every prong across all three swirls is checked and adjusted by hand before the ring ships, which is why a stone coming loose from normal daily wear is rare — even on open wirework like this.

If a Moissanite stone does come loose under everyday use — no drops, no impact — José Lux resets it for free, in any of the three clusters. What’s not covered: stone loss from a hard impact, a drop, or a strike against a hard surface. That’s not treated as a manufacturing defect, and open swirl settings are more exposed to impact than a solid band, so we’d rather you know that upfront. José Lux reviews every case individually before deciding next steps, and if a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it at cost, with a quote before anything is done.

Our Workshop

José Lux works out of Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam. The same team that alloys the gold sets the Moissanite and polishes each swirl — nothing about this ring passes through a third-party factory. The Swirl is one of the more time-consuming settings we build: open wirework has to hold its shape without a solid band behind it, and each stone cluster has to sit flush in a loop that’s curved, not flat. We’ve done it enough times to know where it goes wrong, and where it holds.

Is every stone on this ring Moissanite, or is some of it CZ?

Every stone on the Moissanite Swirl Ring is Moissanite — all three clusters. That’s different from José Lux’s channel and pavé settings, which pair a Moissanite center with Swiss CZ (Cubic Zirconia) accents. Here, there’s no CZ anywhere on the ring. The largest cluster’s center stone carries its own GRA certificate; the remaining stones are the same material, hand-matched, without individual reports.

What’s the difference between 10K and 14K gold?
