A single round Moissanite center stone sits in a six-prong mount, GRA Certified — this is a solitaire, not a cluster, so there’s no CZ or melee anywhere on the ring to compare it to. What sets it apart is the band: wide, and carved the full way around with an open scroll filigree pattern, the kind of wave-and-vine cutwork you’d see on a piece built a century ago.

Cutting that scrollwork out of a wide band, evenly, so the pattern reads the same from every angle around the ring, is close to jewelry engraving work — it’s done by hand at the bench, not stamped. The open sections have to hold their shape without weakening the band, which means the metal walls between each scroll have to stay consistent in thickness the whole way around. We’ve been alloying gold and setting Moissanite at the same bench in Hồ Chí Minh City for years. A wide filigree band like this takes more finishing time than a plain shank, because every cutout edge gets polished by hand, not just the surface.

The Moissanite Center Stone

The center stone is GRA Certified Moissanite — Color D-FL, colorless and internally flawless, Mohs 9.25. It ships with its own GRA report, carrying a unique laser-inscribed ID traceable to that specific stone. Moissanite isn’t a diamond, and José Lux won’t tell you it is. It’s lab-created silicon carbide with its own optical signature — more fire than diamond, which means more rainbow flash under direct light.

Because this is a solitaire, that one stone carries the ring’s entire sparkle — there’s no cluster or pavé pulling attention elsewhere. The six-prong mount holds it high enough to catch light from the side as well as from above, so the fire shows even when the ring isn’t moving much.

The Gold and Karat Options

The band is solid gold — never gold-filled, never gold-plated. José Lux offers the Vintage Filigree Ring in 10K gold (41.7% pure gold) and 14K gold (58.3% pure gold). 10K carries less pure gold and more of the harder alloy metals, so it resists everyday scratching a little better — worth knowing on an open filigree pattern like this one, where the cut-out sections carry less metal than a solid band in the same spot. 14K carries more pure gold, which reads deeper and warmer, especially in Yellow Gold. Neither is the “better” metal — they’re two different tradeoffs, and José Lux sells both instead of steering you toward one.

Every karat comes in Yellow, White, or Rose Gold. The color isn’t a coating — it comes from the alloy formula, the ratio of copper, silver, zinc, or palladium mixed into the gold during alloying. José Lux’s White Gold is nickel-free; the white tone comes from silver, zinc, or palladium in the mix, not nickel, which matters if you’re sensitive to it.

Every ring goes through four stages at the José Lux workshop before it ships. We alloy 24K gold down to 10K or 14K by hand, in the exact ratio for the karat and color ordered. The filigree band is cast from a 3D CAD design using lost-wax casting, then the six-prong mount is hand-set with the center stone, and every cutout edge is polished by hand. Before it leaves Hồ Chí Minh City, we test the karat with an XRF machine, check for nickel, and stamp the legal karat hallmark.

Every José Lux gold ring carries a lifetime warranty. Repairs are free — for life, no expiration date. Every prong on the six-prong mount is checked and adjusted by hand before the ring ships, which is why a stone coming loose from normal daily wear is rare.

If the Moissanite center stone does come loose under everyday use — no drops, no impact — José Lux resets it for free. What’s not covered: stone loss from a hard impact, a drop, or a strike against a hard surface. That’s not treated as a manufacturing defect. The open filigree carries less metal than a solid band in the same spot, so it’s worth treating this ring the way you would any cutout or openwork design — not built for heavy manual work. José Lux reviews every case individually before deciding next steps, and if a repair falls outside the warranty, we’ll still fix it at cost, with a quote before anything is done.

The same team that alloys the gold sets the center stone and finishes every scroll of the filigree band by hand — nothing about this ring passes through a third-party factory. Open scrollwork has to hold its shape under everyday wear while still reading as delicate, which means the metal walls between each cutout can't be too thin or too thick. We’ve done it enough times to know where it goes wrong, and where it holds.
