José Lux makes most of its earrings with Moissanite. The Open Heart Stud is a silhouette design — the frame is the earring. A 925 sterling silver open heart: the upper portion of the heart is a smooth, polished silver curve with no stones. The lower portion traces the heart outline with a continuous line of Swiss CZ stones, running from one side of the dip at the top, along the curve, and meeting at the bottom point. That split between polished silver above and sparkling CZ below is what makes this design distinctive. It's not a solid heart and it's not fully stone-set. Half the outline is clean silver. Half is stones. The contrast between the two reads clearly on the ear.

This is a silhouette design, which means the frame geometry has to be precise. The heart outline has to be a true, even curve on both sides. The CZ stone line has to follow that lower curve continuously from end to end with consistent spacing. If the curve is off or the stone line breaks, the heart silhouette reads as irregular. José Lux cuts and finishes these frames by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Both earrings are checked against each other before they ship.

The post and screw-back are 925 sterling silver. The screw-back threads fully onto the post, locks, and detaches completely for cleaning. One pair — two earrings.

The Open Heart Frame — Solid 925 Sterling Silver

The heart frame is cut from 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for strength. It's an open design: no solid fill, just the outline of a heart with the interior empty. The upper portion of the heart — the two curves that form the top lobes — is smooth, unset, polished silver. That smooth upper section catches light differently from the stone-set lower section. Mirror-polished silver reflects light in a single, sharp line. The CZ stones below it scatter light in multiple directions. That optical difference between the two halves is visible on the ear.

The upper silver curves are wider and fuller than you'd see on a wire-frame design. They have real volume — not a thin wire, but a proper curved band with a polished surface face. That width is what gives the earring its visual substance. A thin wire outline would look lightweight and inexpensive. The fuller silver frame reads as a deliberate design choice.

The heart point at the bottom is where the CZ stone line ends. The geometry has to close cleanly at that point — both sides of the stone line meeting at the tip. Getting that closure consistent on both earrings requires the same frame geometry on both pieces and careful placement of the final stones at each end of the line.

The Swiss CZ Stone Line

The lower half of the heart outline is set with a continuous line of Swiss CZ stones — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Round brilliant cut. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. José Lux states this plainly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying.

Swiss CZ has clean white brilliance. Consistent light return, no rainbow fire. For a stone line that has to trace a curved path, that consistency matters — each stone has to read the same brightness as its neighbors so the line looks continuous rather than spotty. If stone color or cut quality varies within the line, the inconsistency shows. José Lux sources Swiss CZ for consistent color grade across all stones in the set.

The stones are individually hand-set along the lower heart curve and secured in place. The line runs continuously from one upper corner of the heart dip, down along the left curve, around the bottom point, and back up the right curve to the other upper corner. Every stone has to follow the curve without gaps and without overcrowding. That curved-line setting requires individual positioning of each stone — it can't be set in a straight channel. José Lux does this by hand at our Vietnam workshop.

The Post and Screw-Back — Sterling Silver

The post, screw-back nut, and backplate disc are all 925 sterling silver. Solid silver throughout. No brass. No base metal at any point of contact with the ear.

The screw-back threads onto the post and locks mechanically. Wind the nut clockwise until it seats against the back of the lobe. That lock holds throughout daily movement, exercise, and sleep. A butterfly push-back uses spring friction — friction that weakens with every daily removal. A screw-back doesn't degrade that way. It locks until you actively unscrew it.

The full screw-back assembly detaches completely from the post. With the back removed, the full earring face is accessible for cleaning — the stone line along the lower heart curve, the inside of the frame, all of it. Warm water, a soft brush along the stone line, rinse clean. The thread re-engages exactly the same way every time.

Solid silver post. Plated brass posts corrode when the coating wears — the underlying brass oxidizes against skin moisture and causes irritation in the piercing over time. José Lux uses solid 925 sterling silver for the post on every stud earring. That's the standard.

The Metal and Plating

The complete earring — the heart frame, the stone line setting, the post, and the screw-back — is 925 sterling silver. The frame needs proper silver thickness to hold the open heart shape clean and rigid. A thin frame flexes and the heart outline gradually loses its curve geometry over time. José Lux uses properly gauged silver for this frame.

Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Our artisans have been hand-plating silver for years. The open heart frame has curved inner and outer faces, the stone line setting on the lower curve, and the polished upper section — all of it needs even rhodium coverage. Machine dipping covers the outer faces and misses the inside curves and the stone setting recesses. Hand application reaches all of it.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. Some have gone eight years before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at José Lux — no time limit, no conditions.

Warranty and Repairs

Every stone on a José Lux stud earring is hand-set and secured before it ships. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare.

If a Swiss CZ stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:

  • Swiss CZ stone re-setting: Always free. José Lux imports CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely. No exceptions.
  • Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
  • Post or screw-back replacement: If a silver component fails under normal use, José Lux replaces it free.

What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.

Shipping

Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control.

Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition or you get your money back.

Your earrings ship in two layers: the inner box holds the earrings securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. Inside every order: a silver polishing cloth and a José Lux workshop warranty card.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who cut the open heart frames, hand-set each CZ stone along the curved lower outline, fabricate the screw-back closures from sterling silver, and apply the rhodium finish by hand have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online.

An open heart frame with a split design — polished silver above, stone line below — requires the frame geometry and the stone placement to work together. The silver curve has to be clean and even before plating. The stone line has to follow that curve without interruption from start to finish. The point where the stone line ends and the polished silver begins has to read as intentional, not accidental. Getting that transition right on both earrings consistently is the work. We've made enough of these to know what that looks like. These meet that standard before they leave our workshop.

Your Earrings Arrive Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your earrings ship in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds each earring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the earrings themselves are wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before they go into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

What makes this design different from a regular heart stud?

Three things. First, it's open — no solid fill, just the heart outline. The interior of the heart is empty space, which means you see the lobe through the center of the earring. Second, it's split: the upper half of the outline is smooth, polished silver with no stones, and the lower half is set with a continuous line of Swiss CZ stones. That contrast — mirror-polished silver above, sparkling stones below — is what gives the design its visual interest. A fully solid heart or a fully stone-set heart would read as a single texture. This one has two distinct visual zones in one outline. Third, the upper silver curves have real volume — not a thin wire, but a rounded band with a polished face. That width reads as a proper design choice, not just a connector between the post and the stones.

Are the stones Moissanite or CZ?

Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. José Lux states this clearly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying. This is a silhouette-driven design where the heart frame is the main event. The CZ stone line adds sparkle to the lower outline without dominating the overall shape. Swiss CZ's clean white brilliance is consistent across all stones in the line — which matters for a continuous stone line where any visual inconsistency shows immediately.

How does the stone line stay on a curved path?

Each stone is individually positioned and hand-set along the lower heart curve at our Vietnam workshop. A straight channel setting doesn't work on a curved path — the stones would fight the curve rather than follow it. Every stone has to be placed at the correct angle and spacing for the line to read as continuous and even. That's bench work, done by hand, stone by stone. After setting, both earrings are checked together for consistent stone line geometry before they ship. If something is off, it gets corrected.

How does this earring look on the ear?

Compact and clean. The open heart sits close to the lobe — not oversized. The upper polished silver curves read as smooth and bright against the skin. The lower CZ stone line traces the heart outline and catches light as the head moves. The contrast between the two halves is visible at normal conversational distance — you can clearly see where the polished silver ends and the sparkling stone line begins. It's a recognizable heart shape that reads as thoughtfully designed rather than a standard mass-market heart stud. The earring suits daily wear and looks equally at home dressed up. It's not loud. It doesn't need to be.

How do I clean these earrings?

Unscrew the back nut fully and remove it from the post. The full earring frame is now accessible. Use a soft toothbrush with warm water and mild soap. Work the bristles along the stone line on the lower heart curve — residue accumulates in the stone settings during daily wear. Brush the inner face of the heart outline and the polished upper section. Rinse thoroughly. Dry completely before reattaching the screw-back. That routine takes under a minute and keeps both the stones and the silver polish looking clean.

How long does the plating last?

Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, how often you wear them, and exposure to chemicals — perfume, chlorine, cleaning products — all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at José Lux. No time limit. Ship them back whenever the finish needs refreshing.

What does the warranty cover?

If any Swiss CZ stone comes loose under normal daily wear — no drops, no impacts — José Lux re-sets it for free. All CZ re-setting is free, no exceptions. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. Post or screw-back replacement is free if a silver component fails under normal use. What's not covered: stones lost from a drop or hard impact, or visible frame deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Where are these earrings made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who cut and finish the heart frames, hand-set the CZ stone line along the lower curve, fabricate the screw-back closures from silver, and hand-plate every surface have been doing this work for years. A curved stone line that has to follow a heart outline and close cleanly at the bottom point requires more positioning precision than a straight stone row. Both earrings have to match. This is José Lux's own workshop, not a third-party factory. The craft is consistent because the same artisans do this work every day.
