José Lux makes most of its earrings with Moissanite. The Round Halo Stud is a Swiss CZ design — one larger center stone elevated in a secure mount, surrounded by a tight ring of smaller CZ halo stones set flush around it. The halo does two things: it frames the center stone and it makes the overall earring face read significantly larger than the center stone alone would. A well-executed halo is one of the most efficient ways to add visual presence to a stud earring without increasing the stone size.

Every stone is hand-set at our Vietnam workshop. The center stone sits elevated above the halo ring — it needs to catch light from above and from the sides, which means the mount has to position it correctly above the halo plane. The halo stones ring around it, each one secured individually. All of it is done by hand before the earring ships.

The post and screw-back are 925 sterling silver. The screw-back threads fully onto the post, locks, and detaches completely for cleaning. One pair — two earrings. Both earrings are checked for consistency before they leave the workshop.

The Swiss CZ Center Stone

The center stone is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Round brilliant cut. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. José Lux states this plainly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying.

Swiss CZ produces clean white brilliance. Sharp, consistent light return without rainbow fire or color dispersion. In a halo design, that clean white behavior is the right call. The center stone reads bright and clear against the ring of smaller halo stones around it. The eye goes to the center first — that contrast between the larger center stone and the smaller surrounding ring is what gives a halo its focal point.

Round brilliant cut means maximum light return from the table. In direct light, the center stone flashes. In ambient light, it holds a steady sparkle. The mount positions it elevated above the halo plane so light enters from every angle, not just from directly above.

The Swiss CZ Round Halo

The halo is a full ring of smaller round Swiss CZ stones set closely together around the center stone. All Swiss CZ — the same lab-created material as the center, color-matched so the ring reads as one cohesive face rather than two visually separate components.

The halo is what makes this earring read larger than its actual dimensions. The center stone plus the surrounding ring of stones extends the sparkling face outward in every direction. On the ear, the combined face diameter looks significantly bigger than the center stone would alone. That's why halo studs have broad appeal — they deliver visual size without requiring an oversized center stone.

Getting the halo right requires every stone in the ring to sit at a consistent height and distance from the center. If the spacing is uneven or the heights vary, the ring looks irregular. José Lux sets each halo stone individually by hand at our Vietnam workshop and checks both earrings for consistency before they ship.

The Post and Screw-Back — Sterling Silver

The post, screw-back nut, and backplate disc are all 925 sterling silver. Solid silver throughout. No brass. No base metal at any point of contact with the ear.

The screw-back threads onto the post and locks mechanically. Wind the nut clockwise until it sits securely against the back of the lobe. That mechanical lock holds throughout daily movement, exercise, and sleep. A push-back closure uses spring friction — friction that weakens with every daily removal. A screw-back doesn't degrade that way. It stays locked until you actively unscrew it.

The full screw-back assembly detaches completely from the post. With the back removed, the full earring face — center stone, halo ring, all the gaps between them — is open for cleaning. Warm water, mild soap, a soft brush through the halo ring and under the center stone, rinse clean. The thread re-engages exactly the same way every time. That routine keeps all the stones bright long-term.

The post is solid 925 sterling silver. Plated brass posts corrode when the coating wears — the underlying brass oxidizes against skin moisture and causes irritation over time. José Lux uses solid silver for the post on every stud earring. That's the standard, not an option.

The Metal and Plating

The center mount, the halo setting, the disc base, the post, and the screw-back are all 925 sterling silver. 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The silver has to be properly gauged — thin silver flexes and stones shift position over time. José Lux uses the right blank thickness for a halo design that holds under years of daily wear.

Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Our artisans have been hand-plating silver for years. Hand application gives even coverage on a halo design — the inside face of the halo ring, the gaps between stones, the center mount, and the screw-back nut all need coverage that machine dipping doesn't reach. Hand application gets there.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. Some have gone eight years before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit, no conditions.

Warranty and Repairs

Every stone on a José Lux stud earring is hand-set and secured before it ships. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare. That's the result of correct bench work.

If a Swiss CZ stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:

  • Swiss CZ stone re-setting: Always free. José Lux imports CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely. No exceptions.
  • Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
  • Post or screw-back replacement: If a silver component fails under normal use, José Lux replaces it free.

What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what's observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.

Shipping

Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control.

Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition or you get your money back.

Your earrings ship in two layers: the inner box holds the earrings securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. Inside every order: a silver polishing cloth and a José Lux workshop warranty card.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set the center and halo stones, fabricate the screw-back closures from sterling silver, and apply the rhodium finish by hand have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online.

A round halo stud looks straightforward. Getting both earrings to match — consistent halo ring, even stone spacing, center stone positioned correctly above the halo plane — requires the same attention we put into our Moissanite designs. Every stone is set by hand. Every earring is checked before it ships. We've done enough halo earrings to know exactly what right looks like. These meet that standard before they leave our workshop.

Your Earrings Arrive Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your earrings ship in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds each earring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the earrings themselves are wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before they go into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

Why does a halo stud look larger than a solitaire?

A halo extends the sparkling face of the earring outward beyond the center stone. The ring of smaller surrounding stones adds diameter to the overall face — the eye reads the full halo width, not just the center stone. A well-proportioned halo can make the earring read twice the diameter of the center stone alone. On the ear, that translates to a significantly more visible earring without requiring a large center stone. It's one of the most practical design moves in a stud earring.

Are the stones Moissanite or CZ?

Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. The center stone and all the halo stones are Swiss CZ. Not Moissanite. Not diamond. José Lux states this clearly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying. Swiss CZ produces clean, consistent white brilliance — the right optical character for a halo design where all the stones need to read the same brightness and color. If you want a GRA-certified Moissanite center stone, José Lux makes other earring styles with Moissanite. This earring uses Swiss CZ throughout.

How does the halo stay even and consistent on both earrings?

Every halo stone is hand-set individually at our Vietnam workshop. After setting, both earrings are checked side by side for consistency — halo ring diameter, stone spacing, overall face shape. If something is off, it gets corrected before the earring ships. That check is part of the process, not an extra step. Both earrings in the pair have to match on the ear. Stone loss from normal daily wear on a correctly set halo is very rare. If it happens with no evidence of impact, José Lux re-sets it free.

How does this earring look on the ear?

Proportional and bright. The halo face sits close to the lobe — not elevated or dangling. The center stone reads clearly as the focal point, with the halo ring framing it in a continuous circle of smaller stones. In direct light, the center stone flashes and the halo ring sparkles around it simultaneously. In ambient light, the full face holds a steady, even brightness. The rhodium plated white gold finish is mirror-bright across all the silver between and behind the stones. This earring reads as polished and complete. It works as a daily wear piece and holds its own at formal occasions. The round halo format is one of the most versatile stud designs — that's why it has such broad staying power.

How do I clean these earrings?

Unscrew the back nut fully and remove it from the post. The full earring face — center stone, halo ring, the gaps between all the stones — is now accessible. Use a soft toothbrush or jewelry brush with warm water and mild soap. Work the bristles through the halo ring and under the center stone where residue collects during daily wear. Rinse thoroughly. Let dry completely before reattaching the screw-back. That routine takes under a minute and keeps all the stones bright for years.

How long does the plating last?

Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, how often you wear them, and exposure to chemicals — perfume, chlorine, cleaning products — all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at José Lux. No time limit. Ship them back whenever the finish needs refreshing and we take care of it.

What does the warranty cover?

If any Swiss CZ stone comes loose under normal daily wear — no drops, no impacts — José Lux re-sets it for free. All CZ re-setting is free, no exceptions. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. Post or screw-back replacement is free if a silver component fails under normal use. What's not covered: stones lost from a drop or hard impact. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Where are these earrings made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who set the center stone, hand-set every halo stone individually, fabricate the screw-back closures from silver, and hand-plate every earring have been doing this work for years. A round halo requires more bench time than a solitaire — every stone in the ring has to be secured and checked for consistency against the earring beside it. This is José Lux's own workshop, not a third-party factory. The craft is consistent because the same artisans do this work every day.
