José Lux has been setting cluster bands for over a decade, and the scalloped construction is one of the more particular ones we build. Five round brilliant Moissanite stones, 0.6ct each, sit in a single row down the center of the band — shared-prong set, stone touching stone, no gaps between them. Around that row, Swiss CZ is set in a scalloped border: instead of a straight pavé line, the smaller stones rise and dip in a wave that follows the curve of each Moissanite stone above and below it. That's what “scalloped” means here — the edge of the ring isn't flat, it moves with the stones.

Getting a scalloped border right is harder than it looks. A straight pavé row just needs consistent spacing. A scalloped row needs each curve to mirror its neighbor, or the wave reads uneven the moment light hits it at an angle. We've built enough of these to know where mass-produced versions cut corners — the scallops flatten out, the curve loses its rhythm. Ours don't, because every curve is hand-set and checked against the one beside it before we move to the next.

The Moissanite Cluster Row — 5 Stones, 3.0ct Total

Five Moissanite stones anchor the ring, round brilliant cut, 0.6ct each, set edge to edge in a single row across the top of the band. Each stone is cut from GRA-certified Moissanite — Color D, Clarity FL. Colorless, internally flawless. GRA certification documentation ships with every ring.

Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide, not a diamond, and José Lux states that plainly. What it does better than diamond is throw fire — more rainbow dispersion when the stones catch direct light. Five stones set in a row instead of one center solitaire means that fire runs continuously across the front of the finger instead of concentrating at a single point. On a cluster design like this, that's the effect the whole ring is built around.

The Scalloped Swiss CZ Border

Framing the Moissanite row is a border of Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, hand-set stone by stone at our Vietnam workshop. The border isn't a straight pavé line. It's scalloped: the smaller stones curve up around each Moissanite stone and dip back down between them, so the top and bottom edges of the ring follow a wave instead of a straight edge. That's the detail this style is named for, and it's also the part that takes the most bench time — every scallop has to match its neighbor in height and spacing, or the wave looks broken instead of deliberate. The Moissanite row carries the certified center weight. The scalloped Swiss CZ border carries the shape.

The Metal and Plating

The band is 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. A cluster this wide, with five shared-prong stones and a scalloped border on both edges, puts weight on a lot of small connection points. We use a properly gauged blank so those prongs and scallop tips hold their shape instead of thinning out and bending under daily wear.

Each ring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish, applied by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Not machine-dipped. A scalloped design has more edges and curves than a flat band, and hand-plating gets even coverage into those curves in a way a dip tank tends to miss.

Conservative baseline for the finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading shows. In practice, many José Lux customers report five years before a re-plate, and our longest recorded case is eight years. Skin chemistry, how often the ring comes off, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit, no conditions.

Certification

Each of the five center stones is cut from GRA-certified Moissanite, Color D, Clarity FL — colorless and internally flawless. GRA certification documentation for the Moissanite is included with every order, confirming grade and cut. This is the same certificate format used in professional gemological documentation.

Warranty and Repairs

Every prong and every scalloped setting on a José Lux ring is adjusted by hand at our Vietnam workshop. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare — that's by design, not luck.

If a stone comes loose or falls out under everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:

• Swiss CZ border stones: Re-setting or replacing accent stones is always free. José Lux imports Swiss CZ in volume directly from our suppliers, and we absorb the cost entirely.
• Moissanite cluster stones: If a center stone needs replacement, José Lux charges at our import cost from our Hong Kong supplier — never at retail. Re-setting labor is always free.
• Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit, no conditions.

What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — a ring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible deformation of the band or scalloped edge consistent with a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and tells you honestly what we're looking at. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.
