José Lux makes most of its earrings with Moissanite. The Solitaire Stud is different — one Swiss CZ stone per ear, sitting elevated in a four-prong mount on a clean silver post. No surrounding stones, no halo, no band. The design is a solitaire: the stone alone, the prongs holding it, the rhodium plated finish framing it on the lobe. That's the whole earring.

A solitaire stud is the hardest earring to make look right. There's nothing else to look at. The stone has to be centered. The four prongs have to be even. The mount has to sit level on the post so the stone doesn't tilt to one side when worn. On the ear, it either looks clean and deliberate or it doesn't. José Lux has been making prong-set stud earrings long enough to know exactly what makes the difference. These ship when they're right.

The post and screw-back are 925 sterling silver, fabricated at our Vietnam workshop. The screw-back threads fully onto the post, locks securely, and detaches completely for cleaning. One pair — two earrings. The stone diameter and prong height are matched across both earrings before they leave the workshop.
The Swiss CZ Stone — Round Brilliant, Four-Prong Solitaire
The stone is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Round brilliant cut. Not Moissanite. Not a diamond. José Lux states this plainly. We want you to know exactly what you're buying.

Swiss CZ has clean white brilliance. It doesn't have the rainbow fire of Moissanite — Moissanite disperses more color because its refractive index is higher. CZ reflects white light sharply and consistently. In a solitaire setting with no surrounding stones, that behavior is the right call. The stone reads bright and clear on the ear. No distractions, no competing sparkle. One stone doing one job.
Round brilliant cut means 58 facets arranged to maximize light return from the table. In direct light, the stone flashes. In ambient light, it holds a clean, consistent sparkle. The four-prong mount holds the stone elevated above the disc base — light enters from the sides as well as from above. That elevation is why a prong-set solitaire looks more alive than a bezel-set stone of the same size. The bezel walls block side light. The prongs don't.
The four prongs are hand-adjusted for even tension at our Vietnam workshop before each earring ships. Prong tension is what keeps a stone secure over years of daily wear. Too loose and the stone shifts position. Too tight and the girdle risks micro-fractures at the contact points. José Lux adjusts prong tension by hand, individually, on every earring. That's not a marketing claim — it's the work.
The Post and Screw-Back — Sterling Silver
The post, screw-back nut, and backplate disc are all 925 sterling silver. Solid silver throughout — no brass, no base metal at any point of skin contact.

The screw-back mechanism threads onto the post. Wind the nut clockwise down the threaded shaft and it locks against the back of the lobe. That mechanical lock is why this closure holds more reliably than a butterfly push-back. A push-back uses spring friction. Spring friction weakens with daily use — the wings spread slightly every time you remove the earring, the grip loosens gradually. A screw-back locks until you actively unscrew it. It doesn't back off from movement, exercise, or sleep.
The full screw-back assembly detaches completely from the post by unscrewing. With the back removed, the front of the earring is fully accessible for cleaning. A prong mount around a round brilliant CZ collects skin oils and product residue in the prong seat gaps. Warm water, a soft brush through the prong area and under the stone table, rinse thoroughly. The thread re-engages the same way every time. That cleaning routine takes under a minute and keeps the stone bright for years.
The post is solid 925 sterling silver. Plated brass posts corrode when the coating wears — the brass oxidizes against the skin and causes irritation in the piercing over time. José Lux doesn't use brass. The post that goes through your ear is silver, the same material as the rest of the earring. That's the standard on every stud earring we make, not an upgrade.
The Metal and Plating
The complete earring — the four-prong mount, the disc base, the post, and the screw-back — is 925 sterling silver. 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The prong walls on a solitaire mount carry the full lateral load of the stone. They have to hold tension without flexing under daily wear. That requires properly gauged silver from the start. Thin, underweight silver flexes at the prong base and the stone gradually loses its seat.
Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Our artisans have been hand-plating silver for years. Hand application covers the geometry that machine dipping misses — the inside faces of the prong tips, the transition between the prong base and the disc, the post threading, the screw-back nut. Those are the surfaces that matter most for long-term wear. Hand application reaches all of them.
Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. In practice, many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. Some have gone eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect how long it holds. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit, no conditions. Ship them back to us and we take care of it.
Warranty and Repairs
Every prong on a José Lux stud earring is hand-adjusted before it ships. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare. That's the result of correct prong work, not luck.
If the Swiss CZ stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:
- Swiss CZ stone re-setting: Always free. José Lux imports CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely.
- Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
- Post or screw-back replacement: If a silver component fails under normal use, José Lux replaces it free.
What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible prong deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what's observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.
Shipping
Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control.
Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition or you get your money back.
Your earrings ship in two layers: the inner box holds the earrings securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. Inside every order: a silver polishing cloth and a José Lux workshop warranty card.

Our Workshop
Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-set the CZ stones, adjust the prong tension, fabricate the screw-back closures from sterling silver, and hand-plate every earring have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online.
A solitaire stud is where prong work shows most clearly. There's no halo, no band, no accent stone ring to draw the eye away from the center mount. If a prong sits slightly high on one side, the stone tilts. If the disc mount isn't level on the post, the earring hangs off-center on the lobe. Both earrings in the pair have to match. Every prong is adjusted by hand at the bench before the earring ships. Every earring is checked. We've set enough solitaire studs to know what right looks like. These meet that standard before they leave our workshop.

Your Earrings Arrive Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your earrings ship in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds each earring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the earrings themselves are wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before they go into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.
Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.
FAQ
Is the stone Moissanite or CZ?
Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Not Moissanite. Not a diamond. José Lux states this clearly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying. Swiss CZ produces clean white brilliance — sharp, consistent light return without the rainbow fire of Moissanite. For a solitaire design where one stone is the entire earring, that clean white read is the correct optical character. If you want a GRA-certified Moissanite center stone with stronger fire and dispersion, José Lux makes other earring styles with Moissanite. This earring uses Swiss CZ by design.
What is a solitaire setting and why does prong count matter?
A solitaire setting holds a single stone in a mount with no surrounding stones. All attention goes to the one stone. Four prongs hold the stone at four equidistant points around its girdle — the equator edge of the round brilliant. The number of prongs affects both security and appearance. Four prongs give maximum stone exposure — you see more of the stone face than with six prongs. The tradeoff: if one prong bends or loosens, the stone has three contact points instead of four. José Lux hand-adjusts all four prongs for even tension before each earring ships. Even prong tension is why the stone stays centered and secure over years of wear.
Why screw-back instead of butterfly push-back?
Security and longevity. A butterfly push-back holds by friction. Friction weakens with daily use — the spring wings spread slightly every removal, the grip degrades over time. A screw-back threads mechanically onto the post and locks. It doesn't loosen from movement, exercise, or sleep. The screw-back also detaches completely from the post, which matters for cleaning. The prong seat around the CZ stone collects residue during daily wear. Fully removing the back gives you access to the front of the earring with a soft brush. A push-back doesn't detach fully. The screw-back does. Both the post and screw-back nut on this earring are solid 925 sterling silver — no plated brass, no base metal against the ear.
How does this earring look on the ear?
Clean and direct. The round brilliant CZ stone sits elevated on four prongs — you see the full table and crown from the front, with the prong tips visible just above the girdle. In direct light the stone flashes white. In ambient light it holds a consistent sparkle. The rhodium plated white gold finish is mirror-bright on the prong faces and the disc base. The push-back disc sits flat behind the lobe and doesn't show from the front. This is a small earring by design — the stone reads proportional to the lobe, not oversized. It wears easily as a daily piece and layers cleanly when you have multiple piercings. The solitaire format is its own statement: one stone, nothing extra.
How long does the plating last?
Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, how often you wear them, and exposure to chemicals — perfume, chlorine, cleaning products — all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at José Lux. No time limit. Ship them back to us whenever the finish needs refreshing and we take care of it.
What does the warranty cover?
If the Swiss CZ stone comes loose under normal daily wear — no drops, no impacts — José Lux re-sets it for free. CZ re-setting is always free. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. If the post or screw-back fails under normal use, José Lux replaces it free. What's not covered: stones lost from a drop or hard impact, or visible prong deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.
How does shipping work?
Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux is honest about that rather than promising a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.
Where are these earrings made?
Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who set the Swiss CZ stones by hand, adjust the prong tension individually on each earring, fabricate the screw-back closures from silver, and hand-plate every surface have been doing this work for years. A solitaire stud looks simple. Getting both earrings to match — centered stone, even prongs, level mount — requires the same bench attention as our more complex designs. This is José Lux's own workshop, not a third-party factory. The craft is consistent because the same artisans do this work every day.
