José Lux has been setting Moissanite stones for over a decade. Most halo stud earrings use a round frame. This one uses a square. The Moissanite center stone is round brilliant — 0.8 carat, 6mm, GRA-certified Color D, Clarity FL — and it sits inside a square halo frame of Swiss CZ. The contrast between the round stone and the geometric frame is the design. It reads differently on the ear than a round halo: more structured, more deliberate.

This is sold as one earring. Most men wear a single stud. The price is for one piece. If you want two, order two.

The Center Stone — GRA Moissanite, 6mm, 0.8ct, Color D, Clarity FL

The center stone is Moissanite — 6mm round brilliant, 0.8 carat equivalent weight, GRA-certified. Color D means colorless: the highest color grade on the scale. Clarity FL means internally flawless: no inclusions visible under 10x magnification. Cut is Excellent. 58 facets. The GRA Moissanite Grading Report ships with the earring — one physical certificate with a unique report number traceable to your specific stone.

Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide. Not diamond. It has more fire than diamond — stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. At 0.8ct inside a square halo frame, that fire is visible from across a room in direct light. In diffused indoor light it reads as a dense, white, bright center stone with occasional directional flash. The optical character is Moissanite’s own, not a simulation of anything else.

Moissanite does not degrade optically over time. The stone on this earring looks the same in ten years as on day one. That is a material property of silicon carbide, not a warranty claim.

The Square Halo — Swiss CZ, Hand-Set, Full Perimeter

The halo frame is square — four straight sides, sharp corners, set with Swiss CZ round brilliant stones in a continuous micro-pavé line around the full perimeter. Swiss CZ is the right stone for this halo: bright, consistent, and available in the small sizes that a single-row halo requires. The Swiss CZ carries enough optical brightness to define the square frame clearly without pulling focus from the Moissanite center.

The square geometry of the halo does specific work. It makes the overall stud read larger than a round halo of the same stone size. It gives the earring a defined silhouette — recognizable in profile, recognizable at distance. On a male ear the square frame reads as architectural rather than decorative.

Every Swiss CZ stone in the halo is individually hand-set at our Vietnam workshop. Each stone is seated in a micro-pavé cut directly into the silver frame, held by beaded prongs between adjacent stones. The corner transitions — where the straight halo sides meet at 90 degrees — require careful stone sizing and placement. That’s bench work. Each corner is checked individually under magnification before the earring ships.

The Four-Prong Center Mount

The center Moissanite sits in a four-prong mount at the center of the square frame. Four prongs is the right choice for a round solitaire of this size inside a halo: it gives the stone maximum light exposure from the sides, keeps the prong profile low so the center reads clean, and holds securely when the prong tension is set correctly.

Every prong is hand-adjusted and push-tested at our Vietnam workshop before the earring ships. Each prong is checked under magnification for level seat and correct tension against the stone’s girdle. A center stone that rocks in its mount is a setting failure. We check for it on every piece.

If the center stone comes loose under normal daily wear — no drops, no hard impacts — José Lux re-sets it free of charge. Re-setting labor is always free. If the stone needs replacement, we charge at our Hong Kong import cost only, never retail.

The Post and Butterfly Screw-Back Closure

The post and butterfly closure are fully 925 sterling silver. Solid silver — not a plated brass post, not an alloy stem with a silver coating. Every metal surface that contacts your ear is the same material as the earring disc.

The butterfly closure is hand-finished at our Vietnam workshop. The two wings of the butterfly are individually formed and tensioned by hand to grip the post thread at the correct resistance — firm enough to stay in place during movement, exercise, or sleep, but releasing cleanly when you deliberately pull the backing away from the post. The threading on the post is machined to last through repeated daily removal and reattachment without degrading.

The closure is fully removable. Take it off completely whenever you need to clean the post or the rear face of the disc. The butterfly wings handle full daily disassembly without wearing out. This is the closure we use on our stud earrings because it combines security with a mechanism built for daily use over years.

The Metal and Plating

The disc, halo frame, prongs, and post are 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural rigidity. Every earring receives a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Hand application gives more even coverage at the detail transitions: around each Swiss CZ halo stone, along the square frame corners, at the four prong tips.

Rhodium is harder than silver and sits as a barrier between the metal and the air. It keeps the surface bright white and resists tarnish. Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline.

Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.

GRA Certification

The center Moissanite ships with its own GRA Moissanite Grading Report — one physical document per stone. The report confirms: stone type (Moissanite), shape (Round Brilliant), measurements (6mm), carat weight (0.8ct), color grade (D — Colorless), clarity grade (FL — Internally Flawless), cut grade (Excellent). Each report carries a unique report number. The stone label on the sealed pouch shows the same number, linking the physical stone to its grading document.

The GRA report, GRA certificate card, and sealed stone pouch all ship with the earring. This is standard gemological documentation for the specific stone in your earring, not a generic brand insert.

Warranty and Repairs

Every prong is hand-adjusted. Every Swiss CZ halo stone is individually seated and checked. Every butterfly closure is hand-finished and tested before this earring ships.

If something comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no hard impacts, just daily wear — José Lux handles it:

  • Moissanite center stone: Re-setting labor is always free. Replacement stone at our Hong Kong import cost only — never retail.
  • Swiss CZ halo stones: Re-setting is always free. No charge, no conditions.
  • Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.

What’s not covered: stones lost or prongs bent from hard physical impact — visible deformation consistent with a drop or strike. José Lux inspects every case individually and tells you honestly what we see. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

Shipping

Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can’t control.

Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you’re covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earring in perfect condition or you get your money back.

Your earring ships in two layers: the inner box holds the piece securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. The GRA report and certificate ship inside the inner box with the earring.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The bench artisans who hand-set your Moissanite center, set your Swiss CZ square halo, and plate your silver post have been doing this specific work for years. Every prong is adjusted by hand. Every halo corner transition is checked under magnification. Every butterfly closure is formed and tensioned by hand before the earring ships.

A square halo stud looks clean and geometric from the front. Getting the corner stones to sit flush at exactly 90 degrees, keeping the single-row CZ spacing consistent along all four sides, and setting the Moissanite center level in its four-prong mount inside that frame — that’s bench work. Precise, checked every time. We’ve done enough of these to know where cheaper versions fail: uneven corner stones, CZ that pops within weeks, a center stone that isn’t level in the frame. Ours don’t, because the setting work is done correctly from the start.

Your Earring Arrives Protected — Two-Layer Box, USPS Insured

Your earring ships in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds the piece securely in position. The outer box takes the transit damage so the inner box doesn't have to. Before it goes into the box, the earring itself is wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer — no movement, no contact, nothing shifts from our workshop to your door.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — we cover it in full. If an incorrect address was entered at checkout, José Lux refunds you completely. You either receive your earring in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That is the José Lux standard.

FAQ

This is listed as one earring. Can I order two?

Yes. Add two to your cart. We list it as one piece because that’s how most men wear it — one ear. Forcing a pair purchase when you want a single is a common industry practice. We don’t do it.

Why a square halo and not a round one?

A round halo follows the shape of the center stone. A square halo contradicts it — the round Moissanite center sits inside a geometric frame. That contrast is a design decision, not just a style variation. The square frame makes the overall stud read larger and more structured on the ear. It has a specific silhouette. If you want a round halo, we make that. If you want the square frame, this is it.

What is Moissanite? Is it a diamond?

No. Moissanite is lab-created silicon carbide — a different material with its own optical properties. It has more fire than diamond, meaning stronger rainbow dispersion in directional light. It is not a diamond and we won’t tell you it is. The center stone in this earring is GRA-certified: Color D, Clarity FL, Cut Excellent. That’s what it is. The GRA report ships with the earring.

What does the GRA certificate cover?

The GRA Moissanite Grading Report confirms the stone type (Moissanite), shape (Round Brilliant), measurements (6mm), carat weight (0.8ct), color grade (D), clarity grade (FL), and cut grade (Excellent). Each report has a unique report number linked to your specific stone — the same number appears on the stone’s sealed pouch label. The report, certificate card, and sealed pouch all ship with the earring.

How large does a 6mm 0.8ct square halo stud look on an ear?

The 6mm center stone is the same diameter as the solitaire 0.8ct stud in our other listing. Inside the square halo frame, the overall disc reads larger — the frame adds visual mass around the center. On an adult male earlobe this reads as a full, confident statement. Not small. Not theatrical. The square frame also makes the size read differently than a round halo of the same dimensions: more structured, more intentional.

How does the butterfly closure work?

The post is threaded. The butterfly backing has two spring wings that grip the post. Push the backing onto the post until it clicks into place — it grips the thread and holds. To remove, pinch both wings simultaneously and pull straight back off the post. The grip is firm enough that it doesn’t release during movement, exercise, or sleep, but it releases cleanly with deliberate pressure. The butterfly wings are hand-formed and tensioned at our Vietnam workshop. The mechanism handles daily removal and reattachment without wearing out.

Can I clean it properly?

Yes. Remove the backing completely from the post. Clean the post, the disc rear face, and the backing separately with a soft brush and mild soapy water. For the halo stones and center stone, work the brush gently around the prongs and between the CZ halo stones. Rinse thoroughly. Dry fully before reassembling. The butterfly closure is designed for this — full removal, full clean, reattach. A polishing cloth ships with every order for routine surface care.

What’s the difference between the Moissanite center and the Swiss CZ halo?

Two different stones, two different roles. The center is Moissanite — lab-created silicon carbide, GRA-certified, Color D, Clarity FL. It is the main stone. The halo is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, set in a single row around the square perimeter. CZ is the right choice for the halo: bright, consistent, and available in the precise small sizes that single-row halo work requires. The Moissanite reads as the center stone. The Swiss CZ defines the square frame around it.

How long does the rhodium plating last?

Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear. Many José Lux customers re-plate at five years. Some have recorded eight years before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at our workshop — no time limit, no conditions. Whenever it’s needed, we handle it.

What does the warranty cover?

Moissanite center re-setting: labor always free, replacement stone at Hong Kong import cost only. Swiss CZ halo re-setting: always free, no conditions. Rhodium re-plating: always free. What’s not covered: visible deformation from a drop or hard impact. José Lux inspects every case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — we state that honestly. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.

Where is this earring made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who adjust your prong tension, set your Swiss CZ halo stones, and plate your post have been doing this work for years. Every prong is hand-adjusted. Every halo stone is individually seated. Every butterfly closure is hand-finished and tested. This is José Lux’s own workshop, not a third-party factory. The origin isn’t a footnote — it’s why the craft is consistent.
