José Lux works primarily in Moissanite. The Star Stud is a different kind of piece — one Swiss CZ stone set into a solid 925 sterling silver star frame, the stone sitting slightly recessed into the center of the star, elevated on a small prong mount so it catches light from above. No surrounding stones. No complex setting geometry. The design puts everything on two things: the star silhouette and the single stone at its center.

That simplicity is the point. A star stud reads at a glance — distinct shape, clean lines, one point of sparkle at the center. On the ear, it's compact and graphic. Not understated in the way a plain round stud is understated. The star outline is specific. The stone gives it its moment of light. The rhodium plated white gold finish across the silver star face reads bright and mirror-polished against the lobe.

The post and screw-back are 925 sterling silver, built at our Vietnam workshop. The screw-back threads fully onto the post and locks. It detaches completely for cleaning. One pair — two earrings. The star frame dimensions and stone position are matched across both earrings before they leave the workshop.

The Star Frame — Solid 925 Sterling Silver

The star body is a solid five-point star stamped and finished from 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The face of the star is flat and mirror-polished after rhodium plating. The five points are clean and defined. The star sits flat against the lobe when worn — it doesn't tilt or angle because the post is centered correctly on the back of the frame.

The center of the star has a recessed seat for the CZ stone. The stone sits slightly below the star face plane, framed by the surrounding silver surface. That recessing is a deliberate setting choice — it protects the stone edge from direct contact with surfaces and keeps the prong tips below the top plane of the star, so they don't snag on fabric or hair.

The star frame is a specific shape to cut and finish consistently. The five points have to be even. The inner angles between the points have to be clean. The surface has to be smooth enough to hold the rhodium plating evenly after hand application. This is bench work done at our Vietnam workshop. The artisans who finish these frames have been working silver for years. Both earrings in the pair go through the same finishing process and are checked for consistency before they ship.

The Swiss CZ Center Stone — Round Brilliant

The center stone is Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Round brilliant cut. Not Moissanite. Not a diamond. José Lux states this plainly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying.

Swiss CZ has a specific optical character: clean, consistent white brilliance without the rainbow fire of Moissanite or diamond. In a star stud design, that behavior works well. The stone reads bright at the center of the star. It doesn't compete with the silver frame for attention — it anchors it. The round brilliant cut gives it maximum light return from the prong mount position. In direct light, it flashes white and clear. In ambient light, it holds a clean sparkle.

Swiss CZ is lab-created. Its properties are consistent across production runs — color, clarity, and cut are controlled. José Lux sources Swiss CZ that reads clean white against the D-grade standard, matching the rhodium plated finish of the star frame. No yellow tint. No visible inclusions. A stone that earns its place at the center of the star without needing to be more than what it is.

The stone is prong-set into the recessed center mount of the star. Five prongs, hand-adjusted at our workshop for even tension before the earring ships. Prong tension on a small stud stone is the difference between a stone that stays put for years of daily wear and one that works loose. José Lux adjusts this by hand. The prong tips sit below the plane of the star face — they don't catch.

The Post and Screw-Back — Sterling Silver

The post and screw-back are built entirely from 925 sterling silver. Solid silver post, solid silver screw-back nut, solid silver backplate disc. No brass. No base metal at any point of contact with the ear.

The screw-back mechanism threads onto the post. The nut winds clockwise down the threaded shaft and locks in position against the back of the lobe. That mechanical lock is why this closure holds more reliably than a standard butterfly push-back. A push-back uses spring friction. Friction that weakens with daily removal. A screw-back locks and stays locked until you actively unscrew it.

The full screw-back assembly — nut and backplate disc — detaches completely from the post by unscrewing. This matters for cleaning. The prong mount on the center stone and the recessed seat in the star frame accumulate residue over time. Fully detaching the back gives you clean access to the front of the earring with a soft brush. Warm water, mild soap, soft brush through the prong area and the star face, rinse. Reattach the screw-back. The thread re-engages exactly the same way every time.

The solid silver post doesn't corrode against the piercing. Plated brass posts corrode when the plating wears. The oxidized brass reacts with skin moisture and can cause irritation in the piercing. José Lux uses solid 925 sterling silver for the post on every stud earring. That's not an upgrade — it's the standard.

The Metal and Plating

The star frame, the prong mount, the post, and the screw-back are all 925 sterling silver. The full earring is one material throughout — no base metal components, no mixed metal construction that creates inconsistent wear over time.

Every earring gets a rhodium plated white gold finish applied by hand at our workshop in Vietnam. Not machine-dipped. Our artisans apply the rhodium by hand, which gives more even coverage at the detail geometry — the inner angles between the star points, the prong tips around the CZ stone, the star face itself, and the screw-back nut. Machine dipping deposits on flat surfaces and misses the recesses. Hand application covers everything.

Rhodium is harder than gold and sits as a barrier between the silver and the air. Conservative baseline for this finish: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. Some have gone eight years of daily wear before the first re-plate. Skin chemistry, wear frequency, and chemical exposure all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop — no time limit, no conditions. The star frame and stone mount go back through our plating station and come back looking the same as day one.

Warranty and Repairs

Every prong on a José Lux stud earring is hand-adjusted for tension before it ships. Stone loss from normal daily wear is extremely rare. That's by design, not chance.

If the CZ center stone comes loose under everyday use — no drops, no impacts, just daily wear — José Lux re-sets it:

  • Swiss CZ stone re-setting: Always free. José Lux imports CZ in volume and absorbs the cost entirely.
  • Rhodium re-plating: Always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. No conditions.
  • Post or screw-back replacement: If a silver component fails under normal use, José Lux replaces it free.

What's not covered: stones lost due to hard physical impact — an earring dropped from height, struck against a hard surface, or showing visible prong deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually and communicates honestly about what's observed. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we'll still fix it — at cost, with a clear quote before anything is done.

Shipping

Free via USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated delivery 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux states that honestly rather than promise a window we can't control.

Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, or damaged — you're covered in full. Even if an incorrect address was entered at checkout, a full refund is issued. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition or you get your money back.

Your earrings ship in two layers: the inner box holds the earrings securely with anti-shock protection; the outer box protects everything in transit. Inside every order: a silver polishing cloth and a José Lux workshop warranty card.

Our Workshop

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The same artisans who hand-set Moissanite stones in complex halo designs also finish the Star Stud earrings. Different designs, same standard. Every prong is adjusted by hand. Every star frame goes through the same finishing and plating process. Every earring is checked before it ships.

A star stud is a simple design. That doesn't mean it's easy to do consistently. The star points have to be even. The stone has to sit centered. The prong tips have to be below the face plane so they don't catch. Both earrings in the pair have to match. Simple designs show imprecision clearly — there's nothing else in the design to distract from it. José Lux holds the same standard on every piece we make, regardless of complexity. The Star Stud earns that same attention.

Your Earrings Arrive Protected — Two-Layer Box Packaging, USPS Insured

Your earrings ship in two layers of packaging. The inner jewelry box holds each earring securely in place. The outer box protects everything during transit. On top of that, the earrings themselves are wrapped in a shock-absorbing layer before they go into the box — so there's no movement, no impact damage, nothing shifts in transit.

Shipping is via USPS with 100% jewelry insurance on every order. If something goes wrong in transit — lost, delayed, damaged — we cover it. Even if an address was entered incorrectly at checkout, José Lux refunds you in full. You either receive your earrings in perfect condition, or you get your money back. That's the José Lux standard.

FAQ

What is the center stone — is it Moissanite or CZ?

Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia, lab-created, sourced from Switzerland. Not Moissanite. Not a diamond. José Lux states this clearly because we want you to know exactly what you're buying. Swiss CZ has clean white brilliance without the rainbow fire of Moissanite. In a star stud design, that behavior is correct — the stone reads bright and clear at the center of the star without competing with the silver frame. If you want a Moissanite center stone, José Lux makes other earring styles with GRA-certified Moissanite. This earring uses Swiss CZ, and that's by design.

Why screw-back instead of butterfly push-back?

Security and longevity. A butterfly push-back relies on spring friction to hold the post. That friction weakens over time — the wings spread with repeated daily use and the grip gradually loosens. A screw-back threads mechanically onto the post and locks. It doesn't loosen from movement, exercise, or sleep. For a compact stud like this one, the screw-back also gives you full access to the earring face for cleaning — unscrew the back, remove it completely, and the front of the earring is open for a proper clean with a soft brush. A butterfly back doesn't detach fully. The screw-back does.

How does this earring look on the ear?

Compact and graphic. The star frame is small enough to wear daily without weighing down the lobe, but the five-point outline is distinct enough to read clearly at normal conversational distance. The CZ center stone flashes white from the center of the star in direct light. The rhodium plated silver face is bright and mirror-polished. The earring sits flush against the lobe — the screw-back disc sits flat behind the ear and doesn't show from the front. This earring works as a daily wear piece and holds up as a layering earring when you have multiple piercings. It reads clearly, it doesn't overwhelm, and the star shape is specific — not just another round stud.

How do I clean these earrings?

Unscrew the back nut and remove it fully from the post. The star face — the prong mount, the CZ stone, the inner angles between the star points — is now fully accessible. Use a soft toothbrush or jewelry brush with warm water and mild soap. Work the bristles through the prong area and across the star face. Rinse thoroughly. Let it dry completely before reattaching the screw-back. The screw-back threads re-engage cleanly every time. That routine takes under a minute and keeps the stone bright and the silver finish in good condition long-term.

How long does the plating last?

Conservative baseline: three years of regular daily wear before any fading is noticeable. Many José Lux customers re-plate after five years. The longest we've recorded before a first re-plate: eight years of daily wear. Skin chemistry, how often you wear them, and whether you take them off around chemicals — perfume, cleaning products, chlorine — all affect the timeline. Re-plating is always free at the José Lux workshop. No time limit. Ship them back to us whenever the finish needs refreshing and we take care of it.

What does the warranty cover?

If the Swiss CZ center stone comes loose under normal daily wear — no drops, no impacts — José Lux re-sets it for free. CZ re-setting is always free, no exceptions. Rhodium re-plating is always free, no time limit. If the post or screw-back fails under normal use, José Lux replaces it free. What's not covered: stones lost from a drop or hard impact, or visible prong deformation from a fall. José Lux inspects each case individually. If a repair falls outside the warranty, we quote the cost clearly before any work is done.

How does shipping work?

Free USPS to the United States and Europe. Tracking sent the day your order ships. Estimated 7–14 business days. European orders can see customs delays — José Lux is honest about that rather than promising a window we can't control. Every shipment is 100% insured. If something goes wrong in transit for any reason, including an incorrect delivery address, a full refund is issued.

Where are these earrings made?

Handmade at the José Lux workshop in Vietnam. The artisans who stamp and finish the star frames, set the Swiss CZ stones by hand, build the screw-back closures from silver, and hand-plate every surface have been doing this work for years. A star frame looks simple. Getting both earrings to match — even star points, consistent stone position, even prong tension — requires the same bench attention as our more complex designs. This is José Lux's own workshop, not a third-party factory.
