José Lux has been hand-setting stones for over a decade. The Swan Pendant is the most figurative design in our collection — and the most deliberately constructed. The swan is built in three distinct material zones, reading top to bottom: white CZ at the crown, polished rose gold metal through the head and neck, pink CZ heart at the body, and white CZ again at the tail. Stone. Metal. Stone. Metal. Stone. The alternation is intentional. The unset head and neck — smooth, polished, unembellished — is what makes the swan read as a living figure rather than a static jeweled ornament.

The design logic is contrast. The white CZ crown sparkles at the very top. Below it, the swan's head and the full S-curve of the neck are polished rose gold silver — warm, reflective, completely clean. No stones. No texture. Just the curve of the swan itself in warm metal. Then the pink CZ heart body appears at the base of the neck, grounding the figure in color and stone. And below that, the white CZ tail cluster fans outward, echoing the crown stones in color while taking a completely different form. Three stone zones. Two polished metal zones between them. The pendant has rhythm.

Every element is hand-formed and hand-set at our workshop in Vietnam. The polished head and neck require precise forming — the S-curve has to read as a swan's neck in silhouette, and the surface has to be finished to a mirror polish so the rose gold plating sits evenly across it. The pink heart body has to be prong-set flush and level. The white tail stones have to fan at the correct angles to read as a tail in motion. This is bench work, done by hand, one pendant at a time.

The Swan — Three Stone Zones, Two Polished Zones

Zone one is the crown. At the very top of the pendant, above the swan's head, a small cluster of white CZ stones is hand-set in a crown form — the detail that gives this swan its regal character. The crown connects to the chain loop above it. It is compact and precise: enough stone to read as a crown at pendant scale, not so much that it overwhelms the figure below.

Zone two is the head and neck — entirely polished rose gold metal, no stone setting. The swan's head is a small, smooth form at the top of the neck. Below it, the neck sweeps in the classic S-curve: downward from the head, then curving back as it approaches the body. This S-curve is the most recognizable element of a swan silhouette. At José Lux, it is formed to the correct proportion so the neck reads as a swan's neck immediately at the scale of the pendant. The surface is polished to a mirror finish before plating, so the rose gold rhodium sits evenly and catches ambient light cleanly off the smooth curve.

Zone three is the body — a pink CZ heart stone prong-set at the base of the neck, with the heart point facing downward. The pink CZ is the color anchor of the entire pendant. It is the only warm-colored stone in the composition. Against the rose gold metal above it and the white CZ tail below, the pink body is what makes the pendant read as a complete color story rather than a monochrome figure. The heart cut is deliberate: the rounded top of the heart follows the curve of the swan's breast; the point below gives the body its downward momentum.

Zone four is the tail — a cluster of white CZ marquise and pear-cut stones hand-set in a radiating fan below and to the right of the body. The white tail stones echo the white crown stones in color while reading completely differently in form: where the crown is a compact top element, the tail fans outward as feathers in motion. Each tail stone is individually prong-set at a slightly different angle from its neighbor so the cluster has depth and spread rather than lying flat. In direct light, the white CZ tail fires from multiple directions simultaneously.

Zone five — the chain accent — is a single small round pink CZ stone set permanently into the right side of the cable chain, at the position that falls on the right shoulder when the necklace is worn at 18 inches. It echoes the pink body stone in color at a smaller scale, creating a second pink point on the shoulder above the main pendant.

The Stones — Swiss CZ, Pink and White

All stones in this necklace are Swiss CZ — cubic zirconia. This is not a Moissanite piece. There is no GRA certificate. What it is: a two-color Swiss CZ composition — white for the crown and tail, pink for the body and chain accent — hand-set at our Vietnam workshop with the same quality standard applied to every stone regardless of its position in the design.

The pink CZ heart stone is the most important stone on this pendant. Pink CZ requires a specific cut to show its color fully at heart proportions. The stone here is cut to heart dimensions, oriented with the point down, and prong-set so the full face of the heart is visible from the front. In rose gold, under warm light, the pink CZ glows — not as a cold colorless stone but as a warm, feminine focal point that ties directly to the rose gold metal surrounding it.

The white CZ stones — crown, tail cluster, chain accent — are round brilliant, marquise, and pear cut, matched in color and brightness. Their job is to add sparkle at the crown and the tail while keeping the unset neck visible as the design feature it is. They frame the pink body from above and below. They do not appear on the head or neck, which is the correct decision — covering the neck with stones would destroy the swan silhouette by filling in the negative space that defines the figure.

How the Pendant Looks in Person

The Swan Pendant reads on the collarbone as a complete, recognizable figurative piece. The rose gold finish warms the entire pendant and chain. Reading from top to bottom: the white CZ crown sparkles at the top; the smooth rose gold head and neck curve downward in a clean S, polished and unset; the pink CZ heart body appears at the base of the neck as a warm color point; the white CZ tail fans outward below and to the right. The polished unset neck is the detail that makes this pendant work. Rose Gold Rhodium Plating — What It Is and Why It Matters

This necklace is 925 sterling silver at its core — 92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper for structural strength. The rose gold color is rose gold rhodium plating, applied over the silver at our Vietnam workshop. This is not a gold alloy, not gold-filled, not vermeil. The silver is the structure. The rhodium is the finish that produces the rose gold tone.

Rhodium is one of the hardest precious metals. Standard rhodium plating produces a bright white finish — that's white gold jewelry. Rose gold rhodium plating uses a different rhodium alloy formulated to produce a warm pink-gold tone. The warmth and consistency of that color depend on how the plating is applied. At José Lux, the rose gold rhodium is hand-applied at our Vietnam workshop by artisans who have been plating silver for years. Not machine-dipped. Hand-done.

Hand-application is especially important on the Swan Pendant because of the polished unset neck. The neck surface has to receive an even rhodium layer so the mirror polish under the plating stays visible as a smooth, glowing surface in the finished piece. If the plating is applied unevenly — thicker in some areas, thinner in others — the neck loses its mirror quality and the contrast between the stone zones and the polished metal zones disappears. That contrast is the design. We protect it with hand-application.

Our workshop is in Vietnam. The artisans who hand-form the swan neck, hand-set all CZ stones across the crown, body, tail, and chain accent, and hand-apply the rose gold rhodium plating have been doing this work for years — longer than most jewelry brands have been selling online. Every element of this pendant is handled by hand. This is José Lux's own workshop, not a third-party factory.

The Swan Pendant has more distinct forming and setting operations than any other pendant in our collection: forming the crown mount, polishing the head and neck to mirror finish, setting the pink heart body stone, setting each individual tail stone at the correct angle, setting the chain accent — and then hand-plating the entire piece in rose gold rhodium. Because it has to be. The swan silhouette depends on the S-curve of the neck being visible as a clean, uninterrupted line. If stones were set on the head or neck, the curve would disappear behind the stone coverage — the pendant would read as a generic jeweled shape, not a swan. The polished rose gold head and neck are what give this pendant its identity. They catch ambient light off the smooth curved surface, producing a warm continuous glow between the stone zones above and below.
